理論上來說，Non-Resident Alien（NRA）不能網上開戶，需要去實體分行。不過有朋友實測 NRA 網上用 SSN 申請也通過了。

開商業 checking 比個人戶口會稍微麻煩一點，但如果沒有進一步審查，其實跟個人戶口一樣，也是可以即時獲批的。申請需要的資料有

  • Your SSN, personal address and phone number：申請商業戶口也需要個人資料，用來驗證身份
  • Your business’s Taxpayer Identification Number (EIN, SSN, ITIN)：如果你有自己的商業資料，當然填 EIN；你也可以作為 sole proprietorship，填寫 SSN 申請
  • Name, email address and phone number for any additional owners with 25% or more ownership in the company：取決於你的股權結構，如果你用 SSN 申請就沒有

如果你運氣不好，有可能會被要求提供更多材料，或者銀行會致電了解你的 business。如果你用 SSN 以 sole proprietorship 申請，可以說明一下你打算經營甚麼類型的 business，例如賣二手貨、提供一些諮詢服務之類，一般都能說服他們。

我的點評

這個戶口本身獎勵已經相當不錯，第一檔 $500 的存款要求也算低。而且最重要的是，這個戶口可以在開戶時用 AMEX 信用卡（也包括 Visa MASTER）存入 $3,000，是完成信用卡迎新獎賞的一個好方法。
