Introduction to Amazon Prime Big Deal Day
Every year, Amazon designates 1-2 days as Prime Day, usually in June or July. Starting last year, however, Amazon has also been holding a Prime-member-exclusive Big Deal Day around October in the second half of each year. During this period and the week before, Amazon rolls out a series of deals for its Prime members. This year’s Amazon Prime Big Deal Day is October 6-7. If there is anything you want to buy on Amazon, you can check in advance to see whether there are any deals you need. I will also keep everyone updated on good deals that can help you make or save money.
Based on past experience, electronics—especially Apple products—tend to see quite a few discounts, and Amazon Devices also usually get fairly aggressive discounts. Around Prime Day, there are also often plenty of third-party gift card discounts, as well as some Amazon gift card reload discounts, all of which can be worth taking advantage of.
Prime Day-related promotions are only available to Amazon Prime members. A full year of Prime membership costs $139/year, or you can pay monthly at $14.99/month (monthly members can also participate directly in Prime Day deals). If you do not currently have a membership, you can consider the following ways to get one. The best option is Amazon Young Adult: ages 18-24 get a free membership directly, and can later renew at a discounted rate. In addition, Prime Day also has an extra 5%-10% cash back. If you meet this requirement, I strongly recommend signing up:
Other ways to get a lower-cost Prime membership include:
- Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial (one-month free trial, which covers Prime Day perfectly)
- EBT and Medicaid holders: $6.99/month (eligible low-income customers pay only $5.99 per month)
- Amazon Prime membership introduction and analysis
In addition, if someone in your household or a friend has a Prime membership, you can also ask them to share the membership with you so you can participate in Prime Day deals as well. See details:
This year’s promotion roundup
Amazon’s official site has introduced some promotions in advance. Here is the summary. Note that even if you are on a one-month Prime trial, you can participate in all of the promotions!
Early Deals (already started)
Although Prime Day does not officially start until October 6, Amazon has already launched some early deals. In particular, Amazon Devices are already seeing sizable discounts:
Sitewide credit card points discounts (already started)
Amazon sitewide discounts with AMEX Membership Rewards have rolled out again, and this round expires on December 31! There are various versions: 15%/30%/40%/50% off, up to $15/$30/$60/$80 off. Note that the required number of MR points differs, so be sure to read the terms carefully. With the discount factored in, it is definitely worthwhile. Go save the offer to your Amazon account now!
Other Chase, US Bank, and Capital One offers may also refresh, so you can try the old links below as well! I checked a few, and they all told me to come back later.

- Add a Membership Rewards AMEX card/Discover card.
- Go to the Shop with Points page and finish linking the card.
- After that, do not click any offer activation links. Wait about 3 days before proceeding.
- Visit the promo links above again.
Add a New Payment Card on Amazon Promo
AMEX has released another round of new-card offers. Add one card to get a $15 discount. If you have a new Amazon account, you should be able to activate this offer 100%. You can try the link below. The offer expires on December 31, 2026.

Extra Offers for Amazon Co-Branded Credit Cards
Several Amazon co-branded credit cards have extra offers, including 10% cash back in certain categories. See the link below for details and eligible products.
How to Save More
Only a few co-branded cards earn elevated cash back directly on Amazon purchases, with 5% cash back. If you do not shop that much, it may not be necessary to apply specifically for one.
- Synchrony Amazon Prime Store Credit Card
- Chase Amazon Rewards Credit Card [$150 sign-up bonus]
- US Bank Amazon Business Card: Relaunched! Up to $250 sign-up bonus
A more efficient method is to use cards that earn elevated cash back at supermarkets, then buy Amazon gift cards at the supermarket. This can earn up to 6% cash back directly.
In addition, credit cards with strong sign-up bonuses are also very good options, since the return from sign-up bonuses is often above 20%.
- Best U.S. Credit Card Sign-Up Bonuses (Personal Cards): Hotel and Airline Cards at All-Time Highs, AMEX Mystery Offers, Premium Cards at 150,000!
- Best U.S. Business Credit Cards: High Bonuses from Marriott, AA, Alaska, and UA; AMEX Mystery Offers at All-Time Highs; Capital One High Spend, High Return!
