Recent Good AMEX Offers: Quick Review (Updated 2020.8)

Here’s a quick rundown of several recent offers that are pretty decent.

Dell, Spend $100+ & Receive $100 (Platinum): Expires January 31, 2021. You can enroll at this link. Detailed analysis: Introduction to the Dell free-money offer
Get 20% Back at Shoprite, Up to $20: Expires October 5. Shoprite offers used to be so good that people would fly somewhere just to use them; this one is also pretty solid, though the cap is a bit low. They still sell quite a few third-party gift cards.
Get 10% Back at Staples & staples.com, Up to $40 Back（AMEX Business Cards）：Expires December 31. Unfortunately, only business cards are eligible. This is an old friend among Staples offers. staples.com itself sells lots of third-party gift cards, such as Target, eBay, and Lowe's. Staples stores have even more: Amazon, various restaurant gift cards, Visa gift cards, and Mastercard gift cards. Staples also often runs no-activation-fee promotions on VGC/MGC. If you can cash them out without loss, that’s basically free money.
Sam's Club, Spend $50+ & Receive $10: Expires August 31. Their stores sell quite a few third-party gift cards, plus $500 VGC/MGC. You can also buy Sam's Club gift cards and use them at Walmart.
Superstores (Target/Walmart) , Spend $50+ & Receive $5 Statement Credit (Limit 2)：A grocery/superstore offer with plenty of third-party gift card opportunities. Of course, just buying groceries will easily use it up too.
Shop Small, Spend $10+ & Receive $5 (Limit 10) : Expires September 30, but you need to enroll by August 23. See: Introduction to the Shop Small offer
Grubhub, Dell, Best Buy, Lowe's, Macys.com extra 1 MR: Different expiration dates, and no cap, which is always nice.
5% Back At Supermarkets, cap $10: Expires August 31. Easy add—just spend $200. Stay safe while grocery shopping.

Note 1: The offer limit on mobile is now 50, while on desktop it appears to be 100. If you don’t see an offer, try adding some older offers first, then log out and back in—you may see it afterward.

Quick Review

Extra 2x Membership Rewards At 76 Gas, Conoco, Phillips 66: Expires May 30. It says pump only. If you're interested, you can test whether in-store purchases work too. This offer appears to have no cap, so if your Everyday Preferred card has it, even better. That would make it 3x+2x, or 5x MR total, so gas spending becomes easy.
Hilton Offer：There were various Hilton hotel offers for different locations and property types, including Hawaii, Conrad, Double Tree, Tru by Hilton, Hilton in UK, Hilton in Mexico, Hilton in Puerto Rico, and more. Terms vary, so if you have upcoming stays, take a close look.
Get 10% Back at Staples & staples.com, Up to $50 Back (AMEX Business Cards) : Expires June 30. The only downside is that it was targeted only to some AMEX business cards. Staples stores carry Visa gift cards and all kinds of third-party gift cards, and the website also has quite a few useful third-party gift cards.
Aaptiv, spend $14.99 and get $12 back, up to two times：Expires June 7. Combined with TCB or Gocashback, you could come out ahead. Just remember to cancel.
Saks Fifth Avenue, spend $250/$350 and get $50 back: Expires May 18. Very YMMV; I didn’t get it myself. Can be combined with the $50 Saks Credit on Platinum family cards.
ZOLA $20 OFF $100: Has some decent opportunities. Detailed analysis
Amazon.com 5x MR, up to 2,000: Expires 7/31/20. Amazing offer—pretty much anything triggers it. If you don’t know what to buy, just stock up on an Amazon gift card.
Wine.com $30 off $100: Expires June 30. You can combine it with the current new-customer offer of $50 off $150 using code: FBPRO50. If you go through TCB, you can also get 5% back. Altogether, that works out to $150 worth for $65, which is pretty good. Introduction to various alcoholic drinks in the US
Boxed.com Spend $75 & Get $10/$15/$20 Back: Expires March 10. You could stack up to four layers of discounts. For detailed analysis, see: Introduction to Boxed.com
Best Buy, Spend $100+ & Receive $10 or 1,000 Points: Expires March 31; works both in-store and online. Great offer. Stores also sell lots of third-party gift cards and Visa gift cards; some locations even have Amazon. Online eGC options are mainly entertainment-related ones like itunes. Remember to register for Best Buy rewards so you can earn extra rewards for free. Swagbucks and Shopkick also have Best Buy card linked offers that can stack with this. One especially important note: if you plan to buy Best Buy gift cards, do not buy bb egc online (it redirects to cashstar); buying physical cards shipped to your home is fine.
Best Buy, Spend $300+ & Receive $30 or 3,000 Points: Expires December 31. Great offer, and stores also sell Visa gift cards. Remember to register for Best Buy rewards so you can earn extra rewards for free. Swagbucks and Shopkick also have Best Buy card linked offers that can stack with this.
BP Gas App, Spend $25 & Get $10 or 1,000 Points: Expires December 31. This is a nice gas offer; just remember it has to be a single purchase of at least $25.
Verizon Wireless, Spend $500 & Get $100 or 10,000 Points: Expires December 31 and requires a single purchase of at least $500. Based on reader testing, buying gift cards, phones, Airpods, and more could all trigger it. Just make sure it’s one transaction of $500+.
Instacart, Spend $50+ & Receive $25 Statement Credit (Can Be Done Twice)：Detailed analysis
Blue Apron, spend $50 and get $25/2,500 MR back：Check Swagbucks and Ibotta as well—they often have moneymaker deals, and combining them with this offer is ideal.
Office Supply Stores, Spend $350 And Get 35%/$40 Back: Expires December 31. Very few accounts got this, but if you had it, it was a great deal. You could use it when merchants like Staples and office depot run no-fee Visa gift card promotions.
BP Gas App, Spend $25 & Get $10 or 1,000 Points: Expires December 31. Remember, you have to use the app.
Macy's, Spend $75+ & Receive $15 or 1,500 Points : Expires January 20, 2020. Macy's stores seemed to have only restaurant gift cards, but their in-store Black Friday deals were still pretty good, so it was worth a look.
U.S. Supermarkets, Get 15% Back – Up To $10 : Even though the terms said gift cards were excluded, spending $100 at a supermarket shouldn’t be hard anyway.
Saks.com, Bloomingdales.com, Sam's Club extra MR rewards: Bloomingdales.com extra 1x MR expires 3/31/20; Saks.com extra 1x MR expires 12/31/19; Sam's Club extra 4x MR expires 12/31/19. The Sam's Club offer is still the most valuable. Their stores sell quite a few third-party gift cards, including $500 VGC/MGC. You can also buy Sam's Club gift cards.
Staples, Spend $100+ & Receive $25: Expires December 31, 2019. This Staples offer is an old friend. staples.com itself sells lots of third-party gift cards, such as Target, eBay, Lowe's, etc. Staples stores have even more: Amazon, restaurant gift cards, Visa gift cards, and Mastercard gift cards. Staples also frequently runs no-activation-fee VGC/MGC promotions, and if you can cash them out without losses, that is basically free money.
MAC Cosmetics, Spend $75+ & Receive $25: Expires December 31. Nice for buying lipstick, especially if you want gifts to bring back home.
Save 10-20% on Cell Phone Bills, up to $50: Expires December 31. It seems to be targeted in waves, so check whether you have it. If you cannot use it all, overpaying usually works too.
Save $25 on $45 Sam's Club Membership: Expires January 31, 2020. The trick with this deal is stacking multiple offers. Right now, the stackable pieces include (HT DOC)
- AMEX Offer: just enroll and the rebate should post automatically. Although it specifically mentions SamsClub.com/JoinAMEX, based on prior data points, any Sam's Club membership charge should trigger it.
- Dosh 4% cashback: just link this AMEX card and it should apply automatically, with no conflict with the other pieces.
- Referral link: there are several sign-up links available right now, but the best one seems to be a referral from an existing Sam's Club member, which gets you a $20 Sam's Club gift card after signing up (sign-up link).
- Shopping portals: TopCashback offers 7%, and Befrugal offers 15%. The trick is to first click through to Sam's Club from the portal, then in the same browser paste in the membership sign-up link you want to use. The portal may still track.
- Steps: add the AMEX offer -> link the card in Dosh -> click through the Sam's Club offer in a shopping portal to reach the Sam's Club site -> on that open page, paste in the referral link with the $20 gift card -> complete the registration.
Waldorf Astoria + Conrad, Spend $350 & Receive $70 Statement Credit: Expires December 31. It only works for certain hotels, but options are available not only in the US, but also in China, Hong Kong, and Europe, so it may be worth considering.
AT&T Business, Spend $175+ & Receive $100 Statement Credit (x2) or 10,000 Points: Expires December 9. A very hot deal, usually found on business credit cards (my personal card has it too!). If you have eligible cards, definitely check. If you got the MR version, it is basically free money. Previous versions of this offer could be triggered by paying a personal cell phone bill, so that may be worth trying.
Indeed.com, Spend $100+ & Receive $100 Statement Credit: Expires December 20. Good if you run a business and are hiring. indeed charges on the 1st of each month, so make sure you spend $100 before it expires in December.
Extra points at multiple merchants: QuikTrip, Shoprite, Boxed.com, Staples and Staples.com, Dell.com, NeimanMarcus.com, Lowe's and Lowes.com, Macys.com, Amazon, etc. Expiration dates vary, so log in and take a look. If your offer count shows 100, add a few offers first, then log out and back in, and you may see new ones.
10% Back At Dell.com, $1,500 Limit: Expires January 31, 2020. I have only seen this on business credit cards. It pairs nicely with the Business Platinum Dell credit.
10% Back At Boxed, $100 Limit: Expires December 31. You may be able to stack up to four discounts here. For details, see: Boxed.com introduction
Save 10% On Cable And Satellite Television Bills (Max $10): Expires December 31. It is a good offer, but it usually goes out to relatively few people. If you have an AT&T cell phone plan, you can try using this offer to pay your bill and see whether it triggers.
Select Online Department Stores, spend $75 and get $10 back: Expires December 31. Participating stores include Bealls Florida, Belk, Bloomingdale’s, Boscov’s, Century 21, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Kohl's, Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Stein Mart. Since the expiration date is relatively late, you can wait until the Q4 holiday shopping season to use it. If you also have the NM offer, using both for online shopping could be nice. Note that this offer is online only, so it rules out buying third-party gift cards in-store. Physical gift cards sold online will probably still work, as long as checkout is not processed by cashstar.
Neiman Marcus, spend $250 and get $50 back: Works both online and in-store. The terms say gift card purchases online and in-store are excluded. However, prior data points suggest in-store gift card purchases could trigger the offer, while online ones would not. You could buy some gift cards in-store to stock up or resell. It would be even better if you can combine it with the Department Store offer.
Sam's Club.com, Spend $30 & Get $15: Expires January 31. If you have an immediate need at Walmart or Sam's Club, just buy an egc. There are also plenty of other third-party gift cards available, and they even sell Visa gift cards.
Amazon, Get 4 Additional Membership Rewards Points, Up To 1,500 Bonus Points: Expires December 31. It should not be hard to max out. You can also buy an $375 Amazon gift card so you do not have to worry about hitting the exact spending amount. This offer seems very widely targeted; all of my MR cards have it, though of course you can only add it once per card. If you have authorized users, their cards can add this offer separately too, although the points ultimately go into your account. Also note: if you do not see this offer at first and your total offer count is 100, add some junk offers first, then log out and log back in and check again. Only if your AMEX offers drop below 100 after logging back in and it is still not there should you conclude that you were not targeted.

Sephora:Get +6 Membership Rewards® Points per dollar spent, up to 1,000 pts: Expires December 31. Not much to say here; if you need something, just buy it. Happy wife, happy life.
Tiffany & Co.：Get +2 Membership Rewards® Points per dollar spent, up to 10,000 pts: Expires February 15. Luxury jewelry may be overpriced, but getting a little rebate through an AMEX offer is still nice. If you have multiple authorized user cards, you can split the payment in-store.
Hotels.com Gift Card: Spend $50+, get 1,000 Membership Rewards® Points: Expires on Dec 31. If you have multiple gift cards to combine, you now need to call in, which is a bit of a hassle. For more tips, see: Hotels.com review
Department Stores, Get 10% Back (Up To $20) :Expires on Dec 31. Time to shop. Note that Sears has lots of gift cards available.
10% Back at Home Improvement or Home Furnishing ($20 Max) : Expires on Dec 31. Time to shop. Note that Home Depot has lots of gift cards available.
Adorama $25 or 2,500 Points with $250 Purchase: Expires on Dec 31. Great if you need electronics.
All Nippon Airways (ANA) , Spend $1,000+ & Receive 20,000 MR/$200: Expires on Dec 1, 2019. I think taxes and fees on multiple award tickets should also trigger this offer. ANA taxes and fees are usually pretty high, so $200+ is very normal.
Get 15% Back at Lowe's & Lowes.com (up to $15) : Expires on Oct 31. Lowe's carries lots of third-party gift cards, such as Amazon and eBay. The cap is low, but getting a $100 gift card at an effective 15% off is still pretty nice. Lowe's should also have self-checkout.
Bed Bath & Beyond, Spend $25 & Get $5/500 Points: Expires on Nov 16. Nice offer. BBB has lots of third-party gift cards, including Amazon. But this one only gives back $5, and you can no longer use multiple cards, so the playability is much lower now. The old days of bringing 30+ cards to BBB are gone.
Online Super Stores, 15% Back ($10 Maximum, Includes Target, Walmart & Jet): Expires on Sep 30. Based on the terms, buying third-party gift cards also seems to trigger it. The cap is just too low.
Air France/KLM, Get 20,000 Membership Rewards Points with $1,000 Spend: Expires on Oct 31. Good if you have a real need for it; it's basically like getting 20% off or even better. I once saw a DP saying that with a certain refund method to another card, this offer was not clawed back.
Save 20% On Your Insurance Bill, Up To $85: Expires on Nov 5. If you were targeted, prepaying your auto insurance would be ideal—basically free money. Unfortunately, I've never been targeted for offers like this.
Gas Stations, 400 Membership Rewards Points With $40 Purchase (3x Uses): Expires on Nov 11. Gas is a real expense for most people anyway. Note that you can reach the $40 through one or multiple purchases; you do not need to spend $40 in a single fill-up.
Home Chef, Get $10 Back With $45 Purchase (4x) : Expires on Nov 11. By itself this offer is pretty weak, but it can be decent if combined with Swagbucks' Home Chef offer.
Save 10% On Meal Kit Services; Plated, Hello Fresh, Blue Apron（最高 $20）：Expires on Oct 31. The offer itself is not that exciting, but it can be very good if stacked with other cashback tools and promotions. For example, there was the BlueApron moneymaker deal, and Hello Fresh often has offers on Swagbucks. This offer is attached to the credit card itself, so it can be stacked with those site promos.
Universal Studios Orlando Vacation Package 花 $500 返 $100: Expires on Oct 12. You need to book a vacation package on universalorlando.com. A good fit for a summer trip.
Spend $200+ On U.S. Restaurants & Get $10 Back (Up To $50 Total) : Expires on Oct 31. This one was sent by email; not sure whether it will show up under the AMEX Offers section.
Cell Phone Bill 支付 $100+，得 500/300 额外积分：Expires on Oct 22, and it can be used 3 times total, for 1,500/900 points altogether. Note that you need 3 separate charges of $100+ each. A single $300+ payment will not trigger it 3 times. If you do not need to pay that much right now, you can choose to prepay your bill.
Pandora 花 $9.99 返 $9.99: Expires on Dec 8. There is currently a promo for 2 free months + the 3rd month for $9.99, so if you're interested, using this offer would get you 3 months of Pandora Premium for free.
Amazon, Spend $75 & Get $15 or 1,500 Points: Expires on Nov 15. The odds of being targeted are low, but you can check whether an authorized user card got it. No need to overthink this one—just buy a $75 Amazon gift card and you're done.
ESPN+, Spend $49+ and Get $10 Statement Credit: Expires on Dec 7. If you also go through TopCashback, there is another extra $10. Basketball fans may want to use it for NBA content.
Amazon 额外 2x，最高 1,500: Expires on Sep 30. Too bad this only came out after Prime Day. Amazon also sells $200 Visa gift cards, so if you really cannot use the spend on Amazon purchases, a Visa gift card is an option. But the fee is 6.95, so there is basically not much upside.
eBags，花 $100 返 $20/2000 MR: Expires on Sep 15. If one card has both the cashback and MR versions of this offer, you can add both, and a $100 purchase will trigger both offers. In addition to luggage and bags, eBags also sells travel-related headphones, including Bose. Note that eBags has changed its gift card rules: gift cards can no longer be combined, and only one gift card can be used per order. However, you can first use one card with the offer to buy a $100 GC, then use that together with a second AMEX card that has the offer. Also, portals like TCB often have high cashback rates for eBags, so check before buying.
Online Super Stores, 5% 返现：Cap is $15. Merchants include Target, Walmart, and Jet. Expires on Sep 30. Both Target and Walmart online sell lots of third-party gift cards, so just buy them. Jet can be a little tricky—if you place several similar orders, some may get canceled. But since this is only 5%, if you already have real spending needs, it may be better to just buy what you need.
Staples，花 $40 返 $10/1,000 MR: Expires on Sep 30. The old familiar Staples offer. Staples.com itself sells lots of third-party gift cards, such as Target, eBay, and Lowe's. Staples stores have even more: Amazon, restaurant gift cards, Visa gift cards, and Mastercard gift cards. Staples also often runs VGC/MGC no-activation-fee promotions, and if you can cash them out without loss, that's basically free money. In addition, there are two versions of this offer, and they do not conflict—you can add the $10 version to one card and the 1,000 MR version to another. If you have authorized user cards, and the AU has a separate SSN, you may be able to add more offers that way too.
Best Buy 消费 $250 返 $25: Ends on Sep 15. The annual Best Buy deal is here. Stores sell Visa gift cards (on the rack near checkout), and you can split payment across multiple cards. For example, you could buy five $200 cards and pay with four different cards. Third-party gift cards are mainly restaurant and gas cards. If you want to maximize it further, you can sign up for Shopkick and scan before buying for an extra 1%-2% back.
Office Supply Stores: Spend $25, Get $5 Back: Expires on 9/30. A nice, easy one, and both online and in-store purchases work. Staples sells lots of third-party gift cards/eGCs online, and in physical stores both Staples and Office Depot carry third-party gift cards. The only downside is that the rebate is a bit small.
Spend $250 at HP, Get $50 Back: Expires on 9/30. This can be decent if you are buying a computer or monitor from HP. If you also need Bose products, buying from HP.com could be worth considering, since Bose rarely goes on sale. BOSE product link
Supermarkets: Spend $250/$100, Get 750/500 MR Points, Up to 3 Times: Expires on 9/25. You can meet the $250/$100 requirement in one transaction or across multiple transactions. The easiest way is usually to buy third-party gift cards three times. Note that you need at least three separate purchases; buying $300 in one shot will not trigger it three times.
Spend $5 with Apple Pay, Get $2 Back, Up to 5 Times: Expires on 9/30. In-store purchases and iTunes purchases are the obvious options, but there are also some gift card apps that accept Apple Pay.
Get 15% Back At Starbucks (Max $5): Expires on 9/17. The low cap is the biggest drawback...
Delta Airlines Flights To/From BOS, RDU or SEA, $40 Back with $200 Purchase: Expires on 9/5. Previous Delta offers did not specify departure or destination cities, so buying Delta gift cards could trigger them, but that does not work for this offer. If you already need to book a flight, it can still be useful, since it is effectively 20% off.
Bed Bath & Beyond: Spend $25, Get $5 Back / 500 MR: Expires on 9/3. If your card has both the cash back version and the MR version, you can add both, and a single $25 purchase can trigger both offers. This BBB offer used to be widely available, and in the past you could add it to multiple cards, so it was great for buying gift cards in-store with split payments. Now it seems only 1-2 cards per SSN can add the offer, so you can just go in-store and buy a third-party gift card like Amazon or a gas card.
Boxed.com: Spend $75, Get $20 Back: One or multiple purchases will work as long as you meet the spending requirement. Expires on 8/15/2019. You may be able to stack up to four layers of discounts. See the detailed analysis here: Boxed.com guide
Blue Apron: Spend $50, Get $25 Back: Expires on 7/31. If you combine this with the Ibotta Blue Apron moneymaker deal, you can earn an extra $25 for free. No reason to pass that up! Ibotta + Blue Apron moneymaker
Plated: Spend $50, Get $25 Back: Expires on 7/31. Plated also has an offer on ebates right now, and you can get $20 cash back from one order. If you order a $50+ box with 3 meals for 2 people, after both rebates your cost can be under $10, which makes it a nice way to try it out.
Rimowa Luggage: Spend $500, Get $150 Back: Expires on 7/15. If this is something you need, do not miss it. That is basically 30% off.
Conoco, Phillips, 76: Spend $30, Get $5 Back / 500 MR, Up to 3 Times: Expires on 8/1. Very helpful for a road trip.
HappyCards.com: Spend $100, Get $15 Back / 1,500 MR: Expires on 7/5. HappyCards are similar to Visa gift cards that can only be used at a certain category of stores. After buying one, you can only use it at the designated participating merchants. Be especially careful and confirm whether the merchant near you participates in the HappyCards program before buying. For example, one Sephora location may participate while another may not. If the store does not participate, the card will not work.
Staples/Staples.com: Spend $100, Get $25 Back / 2,500 MR: Expires on 6/30. One or multiple purchases totaling $100 will work. Staples is an old favorite. Staples.com itself sells lots of third-party gift cards, such as Target, eBay, Lowe's, and more. Staples stores have even more, including Amazon, restaurant gift cards, Visa gift cards, and Mastercard gift cards. Staples also frequently runs VGC/MGC no activation fee promotions, and if you can cash them out without loss, that is basically free money. In addition, this offer comes in two versions: one card can get the $25 back version and another card can get the 2,500 MR version, and they do not conflict. If you have authorized user cards, and the AU has a separate SSN, you may be able to add more offers as well.
Samsclub.com: Spend $200, Get $25 Back: Expires on 6/23. One or multiple purchases totaling $200 will work. Note that it must be at Samsclub.com; in-store purchases do not qualify. If you do not need to shop right now, you can simply buy a Sam's Club gift card. That gift card can be used at Sam's Club stores, and also at Walmart stores and online. Sam's Club also sells lots of third-party gift cards, sometimes at a discount. One important warning: gift cards bought online from Sam's Club sometimes arrive unactivated. If that happens, contact customer service right away to resolve it.
Home Improvement: Spend $75, Get $10 Back: This works online and in-store at Lowe's, Home Depot, and Menards (eligible merchants may vary by your zip code). Both Lowe's and Home Depot sell lots of third-party gift cards, such as Amazon, eBay, Shell, and other gas cards. This offer should also stack with the previous Lowe's $50-$10 offer, so getting $20 back on $75 is quite nice. For online use, the terms say eGCs are excluded, and Home Depot specifically states that physical gift cards are excluded. It is best to read the terms before using the offer and avoid buying items that may not qualify.
Amazon: Spend $50, Get $20 Back: Spending $50 on Amazon can earn you either $20 back or 2000 Membership Rewards. This targeted offer expires on 5/31, and new cards are especially likely to have it. Log in to your AMEX account and check. If multiple cards under one login have the offer, remember to open each card's offer page in a new tab and add them one by one; otherwise, once you add it to one card, it may disappear from the others. If you cannot think of anything to buy right now, simply load an Amazon gift card to your account, or buy third-party gift cards; both should trigger the offer. If you do not see it in your account, try these three methods:
- Check whether you simply have too many AMEX Offers, causing this one not to show up. Usually, fewer than 100 unadded AMEX Offers are displayed. You can try adding a few useless offers, then log out and log back in to see whether this offer appears.
- If this AMEX card was activated only recently, try activating it again. Maybe the offer will show up. Here is the link: AMEX confirm card
- Use the old AMEX login page and see whether the offer is available there.
Bloomingdale’s spend $100, get $20 back / 2,000 MR: This offer expires on July 2. If you plan to buy gift cards to trigger the offer, remember that Bloomingdale’s is very strict: they often call to verify your identity for each order. So after placing the order, make sure your phone is available. Drop APP also has extra cashback at Bloomingdale’s, and gift card purchases may trigger that as well.

Hotels.com gift card $50, get $10 back: You must make the purchase at hotels.com/giftcards. Expiration date: 5/18/2018. Getting roughly 20% off hotel stays is pretty nice. Note that you can only use one gift card per reservation, but you can combine balances at www.hotels.com/gcbalance.
Google Express spend $60, get $20 back / 2,000 MR: This offer expires on April 29. You can stack it with the 15% off offer in the Google Express APP using code GETAPP15.
Supermarket $100, get 1,500 MR: Expires on November 30. You need to spend $100 in a single transaction. If your purchase does not quite reach $100, you can buy a $100 gift card for that supermarket or a third-party gift card to trigger the offer. Note that this only works at stores AMEX codes as supermarkets; wholesale stores like Walmart and Costco do not count. However, I suspect Walmart neiborhood market may count.
AT&T Small Business Wireless $150, get $100 back or 10kMR Offer: Expires on October 31. This only appears on a small number of AMEX business credit cards. This offer has come around many times, and in general it can be triggered by paying your own bill or overpaying your account balance.
Cellphone Bill 10% off (up to $30) / $100 get 1,000 MR (up to 3,000): Pay $100 toward your cellphone bill and get $10 back or 1,000 MR. This can be used three times and expires on November 15. If your card also has the cable bill pay $100 get $10 back Offer, based on last year’s data points, the two offers could stack when paying an AT&T cellphone BILL, which comes out to about 20% off. Readers have also confirmed that paying a Verizon cellphone bill can trigger both offers at the same time.

Macy's $100-$15: Expires on September 25. Spend $100 in one or multiple purchases. Besides regular shopping, it should also be possible to trigger this by buying gift cards online or in store. For in-store shopping, Ebates has instore cashback at 2.5%, which is a nice extra boost. According to reader testing, buying gift cards in store can also trigger Ebates cashback. For online shopping, besides using a cashback portal, don’t forget to activate the Macy's 2x MR above. Walmart Grocery $100, get $20 back: Expires on September 30. You need to make the purchase at https://grocery.walmart.com/. One purchase or multiple purchases totaling over $100 will work. This offer stacks nicely with Walmart Grocery’s own $50-$10 offer, so if you spend $110, you can save $30 total. Walmart Grocery sells vegetables, meat, eggs, milk, snacks, household consumables, baby products, and basically everything you need.
eBags $75, get $15 back: Hashtag to use: #AmexeBags. Expires on September 30. You can buy gift cards first and then ask customer service to combine them. Besides bags and luggage, ebags also sells bose headphones, so this is effectively like getting bose at 20% off.
Petco $50, get $15 back: Hashtag to use: #AmexPetco. Expires on September 30. Online only, not valid in store. Petco gift cards sold online are fulfilled by cashstar, so it is unclear whether they will trigger the AMEX offer.
Nike eGiftCards $50, get $10 back: Expires on September 4. You need to complete the purchase at giftcards.nike.com. Nike gift cards can also be used at outlet stores. This offer is now posting normally.
Extra 4 mr/$ at gas stations: Expires on September 30. Only available on Membership Rewards cards. If you have it on the Every Day Preferred card, you can earn 7MR/$ on gas, which is pretty awesome.
Overstock spend $150 get 3,000 MR back: Expires on September 4. Pretty much all Membership Rewards cards have this one. Buying physical gift cards can trigger it. Since overstock gift cards have relatively high resell value, this can still be worth considering. Offer details: Pay for an Amazon Prime annual membership and get 5,000 Membership Rewards. The charge must be the regular $99 annual fee, and you must enter directly through Amazon’s page. Deadline: January 31.
Analysis: If you currently already have a full-price Amazon Prime membership, you can contact customer service via online chat (or just cancel directly through the link below) to get a prorated refund, then repurchase with the AMEX card that has this offer added, which should trigger the offer successfully. Of course, if your next renewal happens before the offer expires, you could also simply switch the payment card at that time. If you have the half-price Amazon Prime Student membership, you may want to consider contacting customer service to cancel it and then buying the regular-price membership instead. On one hand, 5,000 MR points are worth quite a bit more than $50; on the other hand, the regular Prime membership lets you share benefits with another household member, so you can effectively split one membership with someone else. No exaggeration: I personally value 5,000 MR at about $99, and when you add in all the money-saving Prime deals, this is basically a no-brainer.
Important: This offer cannot be stacked with the $15-$20 Amazon membership cashback available through any shopping portal. You must start from Amazon’s official site and complete the purchase there. There have been online rumors about gifting an Amazon membership to yourself or someone else, but that does not trigger this offer properly. If you buy the membership and do not receive the AMEX congratulations email, there is a very good chance it did not work; I’d suggest getting a refund and trying again.

AMEX Offer Basics

Characteristics of AMEX Offer

AMEX Offer is a built-in benefit on American Express credit cards and some Prepaid cards. If used well, it can easily save you $100+ over the course of a year. AMEX Offer has the following characteristics:

Every AMEX card may have offers, and authorized user cards also have their own separate AMEX offers
Offers appear randomly (YMMV; it’s partly luck)
You can trigger an offer by buying gift cards from the participating merchant, whether for that merchant or for other merchants, thereby achieving category conversion

The first two characteristics mean that the total value you can get from AMEX Offer can increase roughly linearly as your number of AMEX cards increases. For example, if one card saves $100 per year, then 10 cards (including authorized user cards) could potentially save $1,000. The third characteristic is the key to using AMEX Offer well. You do not necessarily have to buy physical merchandise from the merchant specified by AMEX. For example, with a Homedepot Offer from AMEX, you do not have to buy home improvement supplies to trigger the offer. Before the Offer expires, you can buy Homedepot gift cards at homedepot and use them later. You can also buy gas gift cards, eBay gift cards, or even Visa gift cards at Homedepot. That effectively means your gas purchases, eBay shopping, and many other expenses can all benefit from the AMEX Offer.

Example of use

If Xiao Ming has 3 AMEX primary cards and his wife has 3 AMEX primary cards, and they have also added each other as authorized users on those AMEX cards, then together they would have a total of 12 AMEX cards. Suppose an AMEX Offer appears at this time: Homedepot spend 50 get 10
