Amazon Prime Day Overview

Every year, Amazon designates 1-2 days as Prime Day, and during that period plus the week leading up to it, Amazon rolls out a series of deals for its Prime members. This year’s Amazon Prime Day is June 23-26, also running for four days, though it seems to be a little earlier than in past years. If there’s anything you want to buy on Amazon, take a look ahead of time to see whether there’s a deal you need. I’ll also keep everyone updated on good deals that help you save money and make money.

Based on past experience, electronics, especially Apple products, usually get plenty of discounts, and Amazon Devices also tend to see strong discounts. Around Prime Day, there are also quite a few third-party gift card deals and some reload discounts on Amazon’s own gift cards, so those are worth joining as well. Prime Day-related offers are only available to Amazon Prime members. Prime membership costs $139 per year, or you can pay $14.99 per month (monthly members can also participate in Prime Day deals directly). If you don’t have a membership right now, consider the following ways to get one. The best option is Amazon Young Adult: people ages 18-24 get a free membership, and can renew later at a discount. Also, Prime Day offers an extra 5%-10% cash back. If you qualify, I strongly recommend signing up

Other ways to get Prime membership at a lower price include:

Also, if a family member or friend has Prime membership, they can share it with you so you can participate in Prime Day too. See:

The second round is here for Discover cards. The highest offer is 40% off sitewide at Amazon; I only got $10 off $75, so you can check yours below. The offer expires on June 11. AMEX Reward Dollar offers have rolled out again. For AMEX cash-back cards, using $3 in rewards can activate Amazon sitewide discounts of 10%/30%/40%/50% off, with up to $80 off. AMEX cash-back cards include Blue Cash Everyday/Preferred, Cash Magnet, business cards, and more, and they should all count. Expires on August 31, 2026. Other Chase, US Bank, and Capital One offers may also refresh, so you can try the old links below as well! I checked a few and they all told me to come back later.

Also, based on suggestions from group members, if you don't have this offer, you can try the method below:

  • Delete all AMEX/Discover credit cards saved on Amazon,
  • After deleting them, do not click any offer activation links; wait about 3 days before adding the card back
  • Add an AMEX card with Membership Rewards / a Discover card
  • Go to the shop-with-points page to finish linking the card
  • After that, do not click any offer activation links; wait about 3 days before trying again

Alexa Personalized Deal Guide

Amazon is continuing to enhance Alexa's shopping assistant features. Members can use Alexa to:

  • Get personalized deal recommendations
  • Create a dedicated Deals Guide
  • Set price-drop alerts
  • Track price changes for items they're interested in

Amazon hopes to use AI to help users find Prime Day deals that better fit their needs more quickly.

Today’s Big Deals

During Prime Day, Amazon will roll out new Today’s Big Deals. These limited-time deals will be refreshed multiple times each day. Features include:

  • Limited quantities
  • Deeper discounts
  • Popular brands participating
  • Available while supplies last

So popular items may need to be ordered early.

Win a Free Year of Grocery Benefits

Ahead of Prime Day, Amazon has also launched a sweepstakes. Eligible users who place a $15+ order on Amazon Grocery can enter the sweepstakes. The company plans to award a total of $1 million to 100 winners, which corresponds to the benefit of “free groceries for a year.” You can actually enter without making a purchase, link below.

How to Save More

Only a few co-branded cards offer elevated cash back directly on Amazon, and they offer 5% back. If you don't spend that much, there's probably no need to apply specifically for one.

A more efficient approach is to use cards that earn bonus cash back at grocery stores, then buy Amazon gift cards at the grocery store to earn up to 6% back directly.

In addition, churning new credit cards is also a very good option, since welcome bonuses often deliver returns above 20%.

You can also combine this with subscribe and save-type promotions. A few summaries are below (some may be outdated, but they can still be a reference).
