About Amazon Prime Day
Every year, Amazon designates 1-2 days as Prime Day. During that period, as well as in the week leading up to it, Amazon rolls out a series of deals for its Prime members. This year's Amazon Prime Day runs on July 11-12. If there is anything you want to buy on Amazon, it is worth checking in advance to see whether there is a deal you need. I will also keep updating good deals that can help everyone save money or even come out ahead.
Prime Day deals are only available to Amazon Prime members. A full Prime membership costs $139/year, or you can pay $14.99/month instead. Monthly members can also participate in Prime Day directly. If you do not currently have a membership, here are a few ways to get Prime from Amazon:
- Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial (a free one-month trial that conveniently covers Prime Day)
- Amazon Student for College Student (students get six months of free membership)
- EBT/Medicaid holders: $6.99/month (eligible low-income users only need to pay $5.99 per month)
- Discounted ways for new Prime members to buy membership (can save $15-$20)
- Amazon Prime membership introduction and analysis
In addition, if a family member or friend already has Prime, they may be able to share membership benefits with you so that you can also participate in Prime Day. See:
2023 Prime Day Promotions Overview
Every year we share some Prime Day deals. Amazon has also already revealed some of its 2023 promotions on its page, so here is a summary of this year’s Prime Day offers.
Early Prime Day Deals
Amazon has already launched some early Prime Day deals, so take a look if you are shopping for something.
Sitewide credit card points discounts (already live)
These offers usually require you to pay for part of the purchase with credit card points, and the discount can range from $10 off to $80 off. These promotions typically surge around Prime Day, with new offers from Chase, Citi, AMEX, and Discover. Buying third-party gift cards can also trigger these deals.
The AMEX offer has been released again, and even accounts that were not targeted before have received it this time, so go check. Using just 1 point can get you up to 40% off, up to $60 off total (some accounts instead get 15% off up to $15). The offer expires on July 13, so remember to activate it first.
- Delete all saved AMEX/Discover credit cards from your Amazon account.
- After deleting them, do not click any offer activation links. Wait about 3 days before adding a card again.
- Add an AMEX card that earns Membership Rewards or a Discover card.
- Go to the Shop With Points page and complete the card linking process.
- After that, do not click any offer activation links. Wait about 3 days again.
- Then revisit the offer links above.
You can follow the link below to check the currently available deals:
Extra cashback on Amazon co-branded credit cards
Several Amazon co-branded credit cards have extra cashback offers. See the link below for details and eligible items.
The Amazon Prime credit card page now includes details about Prime Day benefits. On July 11 and 12, purchases at Amazon and Whole Foods earn 6% cashback instead of the usual 5%. If you want to stock up or buy gift cards, it may be worth waiting until Prime Day.
Get $15 from Amazon Photos (already live)
Prime members can now try Amazon Photos once and receive a $15 Amazon Credit (a $15 OFF $40 coupon). This offer expires on July 7, and the coupon can be used on July 11–July 12 (Prime Day).
Audible Premium+ free for 3 months (already live)
Prime members who are trying an Audible Premium membership for the first time can get three months free.
Kindle Unlimited free for 3 months (already live)
Prime members can now claim three months of Kindle Unlimited for free. After that, it will be $11.99 per month, so you do not need to remember to cancel early.
Amazon credit card $200 bonus (starting June 29)
Based on current information, this card’s welcome bonus will increase to a $200 Amazon gift card from June 29 through July 26. However, the current offer also includes an extra 5% back on spending, capped at $125. It is not yet clear whether that part will remain after the offer updates. My guess is that it probably will, making the total welcome bonus $200 + $125. We’ll have to wait and see.

During the two days of Prime Day, online orders can get $20 off $100, and there may be another round in August.
Load $50 to Amazon gift cards and get $5 back (starting July 3)
The promotion runs from July 3–10. Prime members who buy a $50 Amazon gift card or reload $50 to their account can get a $5 promo credit.
Receive a $5 promotional credit for a future Amazon.com eligible order when you purchase Amazon.com eGift Cards valued at $50 or more in a single order on Amazon.com by July 10, 2023. In order to qualify for the $5 promotional code, you must (1) be a current Prime member; (2) click the button on the Offer Terms & Conditions page to apply the offer to your account; and (3) purchase at least $50 in qualifying Amazon.com eGift Cards in a single order at Amazon.com beginning 12:00 a.m. (PT) , July 3, 2023 and ending 11:59 p.m., July 10 2023 (PT) or when supplies have been exhausted, whichever occurs first (the “Promotion Period”) .
