IHG has launched another points sale, with up to a 100% bonus, bringing the cost down to as low as 0.5c/p! You need to log in to your IHG One Rewards account to check whether you were targeted (I got 100%, and some people received 80%). This promotion expires on August 17.
Buying 600,000 points costs $3,000, for a price of 0.5 cents per point.
Also, you may want to check whether your Chase card has an offer like this, which reportedly can be activated together. That would make it another 10% cheaper.

Should You Buy IHG Points?
IHG points are worth around 0.5c/p. If you have a higher-end hotel redemption in mind, it may be worth checking whether your redemption value is above that. Also, if you hold an IHG credit card, you may be able to get better value from your points: the IHG Premier Card offers the fourth night free on award stays, so you can book a four-night stay with 25% fewer points. The discontinued IHG Select Card gives 10% of your redeemed points back to your account.
The lowest price for buying IHG points is 0.5c/p, so it can make sense to stock up if you have a use for them.
