【2020.2 Update】This card was revamped, and the welcome bonus increased to 20,000 points, worth up to $220. That’s very strong for a no-annual-fee card. In addition, the current 3x categories are: dining; gas, RideShare, Transit; airfare, hotels, car rentals, and homeshare. It basically covers all the spending you need for travel. Plus, with the WF customer bonus, the 3.3x return is quite solid.

My Take

If you meet the application requirements, this card is still well worth applying for. A 30,000-point welcome bonus is a lot for a no-annual-fee card, and if you have checking, the welcome bonus becomes $330. Also, because this card runs on the AMEX network, it can be worth holding long term to save or even make money through AMEX OFFERs, so it’s definitely not a bad deal. The cell phone protection and free credit score are also nice perks.

Application

  • Difficulty: This card has average approval requirements. It’s recommended that you have at least 1 year of credit history, and having a checking account with them is even better.
  • Application status: Wells Fargo application status check link (login or verification code required)
  • Things to note: Only U.S. permanent residents with a green card or U.S. citizens can apply for this card! If you have had any other credit card from this bank within the past 16 months, you will not be eligible for the welcome bonus or 0APR.
