"2024.6 Update" Visa has now launched a new Visa Saving Edge program for Visa business credit cards. Details are below.

After you enroll your Visa business credit card, purchases at the following merchants can earn extra cashback. This cashback is separate from the rewards on your credit card itself and from cashback portals, so it is worth enrolling.

  • In addition, there are some dining-related cashback offers that also become available just by enrolling your card.

There is another type of offer presented in coupon form. By entering through its link, you can get exclusive coupons or a dedicated checkout page. This feature does not require enrolling a card.

There are several categories of offers, so take a look to see whether any apply to you.

  • Car rental discounts
  • The electronics category is pretty decent. If I remember correctly, this Dell offer is an exclusive discount available on a dedicated page.
  • There are also some business-related discounts.

About Visa Cards and Benefits

You have probably noticed that your credit cards usually have logos such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and AMEX on the front. These refer to the payment network the card runs on. In addition to benefits provided by the issuing banks, these payment networks also offer their own perks. Today we will introduce the benefits offered by the Visa network. Visa divides its credit cards into the following three tiers, and each tier offers different benefits. Higher tiers include the benefits of the lower tiers.

Most Visa cards fall into the Traditional and Signature tiers. For example, with Chase annual fee cards, if your credit limit is above $5,000, the card issued is usually a Visa Signature. My understanding is that because Signature includes more benefits, Visa charges banks more, so banks tend to issue these cards to better cards and higher-value customers. Visa Infinite is less common. Chase Sapphire Reserve and US Bank Altitude Reserve are among the more common examples. Their benefits tend to include more high-end hotel perks.

You can usually tell the tier of a card by looking below the Visa logo on the card.

You can also see the classification of some cards in Visa’s own list.

Traditional Visa

Unless otherwise noted in an article, the card generally belongs to the Traditional Visa category. If you are unsure, you can call the customer service number on the back of the card to confirm.

Regular Visa cards come with some basic benefits, some of which overlap with the benefits provided by the credit card issuer itself.

According to the official website, the more useful benefits are as follows.

Visa Offer

This is similar to AMEX Offer, with extra discounts on purchases.

Most offers just require entering a promo code at checkout. It seems you need to pay with a Visa credit card or debit card to activate them.

Some offers require a Signature-tier card or above, and that will be indicated there.

Shipt Benefit

You can get one month of membership for free, then 50% off for the next three months.

Other Benefits

The benefits on regular Visa cards overlap heavily with those already provided by the credit card itself, so I will not go into much detail here.

  • Cardholder inquiry service.
  • Lost/stolen card reporting, emergency replacement and emergency cash.
  • Auto rental collision damage waiver.
  • Zero fraud liability.
  • Roadside assistance.

Visa Signature

Visa Signature includes all Traditional Visa benefits. In addition, Visa Offer includes more deals, and Shipt becomes a three-month free membership.

Other benefits include the following.

Luxury Hotel Collection

This is one of the more useful Visa Signature benefits. It is similar to booking through AMEX FHR: when you book certain high-end hotels, you can receive extra perks such as room upgrades, free breakfast, food credit, late checkout, and more. That said, remember to compare prices for the same room on other platforms, because rates on these standalone booking platforms are often a bit higher.

Car Rental Benefits

You can get extra benefits when renting from Avis, Budget, and Audi.

Visa Infinite

Visa Infinite includes all Visa Signature benefits, and the Shipt membership lasts through December 31, 2024.

Visa Infinite Hotel

On the hotel side, in addition to the benefits offered by Signature, Infinite adds an eighth benefit. Different hotels may also offer extra credit benefits such as spa or golf credits, which you can see on the hotel booking page.

Car Rental Benefits

Visa Infinite offers even more on car rentals. It includes Avis Preferred Plus membership and discounts. Hertz also has extra points and benefits. National Executive membership is included as well.

Other Benefits

These benefits are mainly travel-related, and the coverage limits are generally higher than on regular cards.

  • Return protection. This coverage kicks in when a merchant refuses to accept returned merchandise bought with the card. It applies to purchases up to $300 for up to 90 days after purchase.
  • Purchase protection. Items bought with the card are covered against theft or damage for 90 days after purchase. Coverage maxes out at $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per year. In cases of theft, you have to file a police report.
  • Travel protections. When you pay for transportation with a Visa Infinite card, you get an array of insurance benefits and other protections. Learn more about credit card travel insurance.Trip interruption and cancellation insurance. This benefit helps cover nonrefundable ticket costs when you have to cancel or cut short a trip.
  • Travel accident insurance. You get up to $500,000 in accidental death and dismemberment insurance.Trip delay reimbursement. You're eligible for up to $500 to cover costs when a flight is delayed for more than six hours or requires an overnight stay.
  • Lost luggage reimbursement. Checked and carry-on luggage is covered in case of loss or theft. Limits apply.

However, these are only the baseline benefits provided by Visa Infinite. Different card issuers may customize benefits on top of this base package, so in the end you should still check the terms and conditions for each specific card.
