How rewards can be redeemed
Based on the official description, both the welcome bonus and the rewards you earn can only be used toward purchasing or leasing a GM vehicle:
Rewards toward the purchase or lease of an eligible, new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle.
Rewards cannot be redeemed directly as statement credits.
Your Earnings are non-negotiable and cannot be redeemed in whole or in part for cash or applied to the balance of your GM Business Card Account.
Cons
- Redemption options are somewhat limited.
My take
I do not know cars especially well, but many Americans really like the GM brand. If you are planning to buy a GM vehicle, or already own one, this card can still be worth keeping. When buying a new car, it is best to negotiate the final price with the dealer first, and then let them know you want to use your credit card rewards to cover part of the down payment. For other things to keep in mind, see:
If you do not specifically need a business card, I think the personal GM card offers a higher rewards rate and more GM-related benefits, so it is more worth having.
Application
- My guess is that this card is relatively easy to get approved for.
