[Update 2022.6] The welcome bonus has been slightly increased to 15,000. Even so, we’d still only recommend this card to people who like GM vehicles or are planning to buy one.

How to Redeem Points
- Redeem toward a new GM vehicle: I couldn’t find the official redemption ratio, but I’d guess it is 1:1 like pre-owned vehicles.
- Redeem toward a GM Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle: You can redeem up to 100,000 points per year toward a GM Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle at a 1:1 ratio, meaning 100,000 points can cover $1,000 in spending.
- Redeem toward GM Service/Parts/Accessories/OnStar/GM Financial/SiriusXM: You can redeem up to $250 per year toward these purchases. I couldn’t find the official ratio, but I’d guess it is also 4:1.
- Redeem for gift cards: You can redeem up to 100,000 points per year for gift cards (specific options not disclosed), but the redemption ratio is 4:1, so 100,000 points can only be redeemed for $250 in gift cards.
Drawbacks
- Redemptions come with certain restrictions.
My Take
I’m not much of a car expert, but a lot of Americans really like the GM brand. If you plan to buy a GM vehicle, or already own one, this card can be worth keeping.
When buying a new car, it’s best to first negotiate the final price with the dealer, and only then mention that you want to use credit card rewards to cover part of the down payment. For more tips, see:
Application
- I’d guess this card is relatively easy to get approved for.
