【2021.2】The offer is ending at the end of February, so don't forget the free Hyatt 5,000 points (enough for a night). If that doesn't work, you can just reload your Amazon balance; it's best to make each amount different. For example, $1.01, $1.02, etc. is safer

【2021.2 update】Don't forget to start spending, and don't go overboard—just make a few purchases each day. Making 50 $1 purchases in a single day, especially at the same merchant, could get your Chase card frozen. HT: Jo.

This is definitely a no-brainer, and in theory it should still be possible to register now if you apply for the co-branded card.

Offer details

Promotion registration link:

To qualify for this bonus offer, you must register between January 28, 2021 and February 28, 2021 and use your World of Hyatt Credit Card to make a required number of purchases that are each $1.00 or more during the promotional period of February 1, 2021 to February 28, 2021
You need to make at least 50 purchases of $1 or more to get 5,000 points. 5,000 Hyatt points can be redeemed for a night at many Hyatt hotels in mainland China, and Hyatt points are very valuable (5,000 points are worth at least $100). This offer is definitely worth doing.
  • Promotion period: 02/01/2021 to 02/28/2021

Some ideas

Recommended ways to do it (feel free to add more):

  • Directly pay utility, water, internet, or phone bills; many support $1 payments
  • Some low-cost free-shipping items on eBay, such as many stamps
  • Supermarket self-checkout, paying one by one, HT: S2Y-0016
  • Fund Apple ID, minimum $2.0 [for future purchases of iPhone and other devices; each account can stockpile up to $2,000]
  • Amazon Prime + small items; if you don't really need anything, it's better not to waste money—just reload an Amazon gift card
  • Amazon reload gift cards can be set to auto-reload, or you can do it manually; otherwise you won't reach 50 transactions
  • Japan Suica card can also be fed a little. It's recommended to add 150 yen per transaction (about $1.0-$1.5); pay attention to the exchange rate.
  • Small transfers through PayPal or Venmo, or Cash App, should also work [requires at least a 3% fee].
  • Link Alipay or Hong Kong Alipay and top up phone bills (a necessity); mainland Alipay requires a 3% fee, which isn't too bad. Alipay supports a minimum top-up of 10 yuan [WeChat or JD also support phone top-ups, but now they require a minimum of ¥30].
  • Buy some free-shipping items in the 7-10 yuan range on Taobao, which requires a 3% Taobao-side fee; for small amounts, it can basically be ignored.
  • WeChat Pay + in-store QR code scanning, such as at some convenience stores (like Meiyijia or Dmall app at supermarkets), especially Dmall—you can handle it yourself, just scan each time, which is quite convenient. Buy 7-10 yuan items and split the transactions.
  • WeChat Pay + online merchants, spending 7 yuan, such as JD. If you don't really need anything, you can take a look at these 7-10 yuan items:
