The public 100,000 offer has expired, but the application link that still gets you 100,000 is still live and could be taken down at any time—if you need it, apply soon! The Chase Sapphire Preferred’s 100,000 best-ever welcome bonus is here, worth $1,500+, which is very attractive—don’t miss it! Also, after the recent refresh, this card now gives you a $100 annual hotel credit, while the annual fee is only $95, which is basically like not paying an annual fee at all. Highly recommended for long-term holding.

This welcome bonus is pretty good, so I’ve added it to my credit card rankings.

This card also added a new perk: a free Apple TV membership, worth $156, which must be activated by December 31, 2026

Highlights

  • Pay Yourself Back: Chase can now redeem points directly to offset eligible purchases. If you hold the CSP card, the redemption rate is 1.25c/p (100 points = $1.25). For details, see: Chase Pay Yourself Back introduction
  • Rental car insurance: Like the UA card, this card offers primary insurance. If you pay for your rental car with this card, you won’t need to buy additional insurance.
  • Well-made card: Metal card, heavy, and hard to bend.
  • Shopping portal (UR mall): Chase’s own shopping portal also offers rewards at merchants including Walmart, Sears, Staples, Apple Store, and more, which is also a good way to earn points quickly.
  • $100 Hotel Credit: Once per cardmember year, you need to book a hotel through Chase Travel to receive the discount (starting June 15).
  • $120 reimbursement for Global Entry/TSA Pre/NEXUS, once every 4 years

Points System Overview

  • The Hyatt transfer ratio has been reduced to 4:3, previously it was 1:1 (CSP only)
  • Point value: The average value is 1.6c/p, so 100 UR = $1.6 (Point Values and Analysis)
  • Direct redemption: Cash redemptions are worth 1c; travel redemptions are worth 1c (without a premium card). Premium hotel redemptions or business/first class flights can yield 1.75c (with Ink Preferred or Sapphire Preferred), and 2c with the Sapphire Reserve.
  • Point transfers: Transfer 1:1 to United miles (good for China–US economy, domestic US economy, and one-way tickets); transfer 1:1 to British Airways miles (good for China–Japan and short-distance domestic US redemptions); transfer 1:1 to Hyatt points (great for Hyatt hotel stays, with value up to 1.8 cents per point).
  • Point features: Ultimate Rewards points can be freely moved among your own cards. They can also be transferred to one designated spouse or partner. To transfer points to airline miles or hotel points, you need support from Ink Preferred, Sapphire Preferred, or Sapphire Reserve. You can also transfer to the mileage or points account of an authorized user.
  • My take: UR’s main airline transfer partners are United Airlines, British Airways, Aeroplan, and Air France. UA can book most Star Alliance award tickets, while BA covers some domestic US AA flights. On the hotel side, Hyatt is the best option and can often deliver about 1.6c in value per point, but Hyatt has a relatively small footprint in the US, so your choices may be limited. If you have the Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve, booking flights, hotels, and activities through Chase Travel can get you 1.25c/1.5c in value, which is one of the best high-value options for beginners. Cash/gift card redemptions are worth 1 cent.

My thoughts:

This card’s welcome bonus is still very generous. If you use the points directly to buy airfare or book hotels, you can get very good value. If you transfer them to airline miles or Hyatt hotel points to redeem award tickets or free hotel nights, you can get even better value. The reason you can extract so much value is that this is a premium Chase card that can convert Ultimate Rewards (UR) into airline miles or hotel points. With only the Chase Freedom or Freedom Unlimited, these no-annual-fee cards can’t do that. Therefore, if you’ve accumulated a lot of Ultimate Rewards, applying for this card can increase the value of your points by 1.25-1.8x, which is well worth it.

Of course, after getting the welcome bonus and transferring your UR points, you can downgrade to the no-annual-fee Chase Freedom or Freedom Unlimited in the second year. That way you keep your credit history and can also increase the quarterly 5x cashback cap on Chase Freedom.

This verified user mentioned an upgrade offer, and it may be sent to some people’s email inboxes. Given recent developments, Chase may be following AMEX and launching an upgrade bonus promotion.

Recent changes

According to an internal Chase memo, this card will undergo some benefit changes on June 22, 2025. At the same time, the welcome bonus has increased to 75,000. Details are as follows:
