About Chase Bank Accounts
Chase offers a variety of checking and savings accounts. In addition to solid service, each account also comes with a decent opening bonus. Having a Chase checking or savings account also helps when applying for Chase credit cards. Checking accounts let you deposit and withdraw cash, write checks, deposit checks, pay credit card or utility bills, transfer money, and more. Savings accounts are limited to 6 withdrawals or payments per month and earn a small amount of interest, but Chase's interest rates are so low that they can basically be ignored.
Chase offers multiple products for different users. The opening requirements and bonus terms vary by account, and the benefits differ as well. Below we introduce them one by one. The comparison on the official site is below
For most people, any checking account can meet everyday needs. So prioritize the one with the highest opening bonus, while also confirming whether the monthly fee can be waived.
Chase Total Checking
Total Checking is Chase's flagship product and most people can open it. It's a mainstream option with an easy-to-earn bonus.

Checking bonus matching
"Updated 11/2019" Based on DOC, Chase now allows matching personal and business checking account signup bonuses. You can do it through secure message or at a local branch. Requirements:
- Match within 21 days of account opening
- You haven't received this bonus
- You have the new offer code (a screenshot plus the code is best)
- Send a secure message (choose the checking account category) or visit a branch. Phone reps usually aren't helpful.
Feel free to share matching DPs. We'll update good offers as soon as possible.
If you apply for a checking account + savings account within 21 days, it may be matched. Just contact Chase through secure message (choose checking accounts), and the rep can replace the offer code. It's recommended to generate an offer code from the link and attach it to the secure message (or a screenshot), saying you received a new offer, which makes matching easier. (The example below is for matching a $900 bonus; others are similar)
After more than 21 days, it can't be matched, and the rep will explain why
Important notes
- If there isn't a Chase branch in your area, don't open the account across state lines, or it may be closed later
- Chase is sensitive to cash deposits, so don't deposit large amounts of cash. You can deposit it at another bank first, then finish with a check or transfer
- All bank signup bonuses are taxable. Chase issues a 1099-INT in January; report it as appropriate
