Chase has improved the rate at which UA miles can be redeemed toward annual fees, with values now as high as 1.75c/p. Previously, the statement credit rate was 1.5c/p across all cards. Here are the annual fees and redemption rates for the different cards:
- United Club Infinite: $525 annual fee, requires 30,000 miles to offset it (1.75 cents per point)
- United Quest: $250 annual fee, requires 15,625 miles to offset it (1.6 cents per point)
- United Explorer: $95 annual fee, requires 6,250 miles to offset it (1.52 cents per point)
- United Business Explorer: $99 annual fee, requires 6,600 miles to offset it (1.5 cents per point)
Personally, I think anything above 1.5c/p is an easy redemption. After the major devaluation of UA miles, the ultra-high-value sweet spot of redeeming for long-haul transoceanic business class is basically gone, so getting a solid value like this is good enough.
