The welcome offer on this card has increased to 60,000 + 10,000 + 500 PQP. The extra 10,000 requires adding an authorized user, and the PQP are not usable miles but are instead meant for reaching higher elite status. Even though the annual fee is $350, the $200 Travel Bank credit each year and the 10,000-mile award discount almost make up for it. The new reimbursement benefits are also fairly practical. Benefit Analysis

• 10,000 Award Flight Credit: Starting in the second year, you can receive one Award Flight Credit for each card membership year. In practice, this lets you deduct 10,000 miles when booking an award ticket. The restriction is that the award ticket must include at least one segment operated by UA. It expires 12 months after it is issued. If you spend more than $20,000 per year, you can also earn one additional credit.

Using UA Miles

United's biggest advantage is its extensive international route network, which makes its miles easier to use. United is one of the founding members of Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance, with 25 member airlines. United also has many non-alliance partner airlines, which makes MileagePlus one of the most flexible currencies when redeeming award tickets. To be clear, UA miles can be used not only for award flights operated by UA itself, but also for award flights operated by Star Alliance partners and other partner airlines, so they are very versatile. They can be used for domestic U.S. flights, flights from the U.S. to China, Europe, and the Americas, and even flights from China to Japan and Europe.

My Take

This is a newly launched card, created by Chase to fill the gap between the $95 annual fee UA Explorer and the $525 annual fee United Club Infinite. Although the annual fee is $350, the yearly $200 Travel Bank credit and the 10,000-mile award discount almost make up for it. The new reimbursement benefits are also fairly practical. For people who fly United 2-3 times a year, it is very easy to get your annual fee back. Priority boarding and two free checked bags are also very convenient.

Apply:

• This card requires a credit limit of at least 5,000, so if your income is too low or your credit history is too short, you may not be approved
• This is a United co-branded credit card. You can enter your UA membership number when applying; if you leave it blank, the system will automatically assign a new one for you
• This card does not conflict with other UA co-branded cards, and you can still earn the bonus when applying for them
