Do you often use Priceline Bid for hotels, rental cars, or airfare? Then the Barclaycard Priceline Rewards credit card may be a great fit for you. The biggest selling point of this card is that it earns 5x rewards on all Priceline Name Your Own Price purchases (commonly called NYOP or Bid). Since prices booked through Priceline Bid are usually a bit cheaper than on other opaque booking sites (where you don’t know the actual hotel name before booking), adding 5x rewards on top makes this an even better deal. For travelers who want to save as much money as possible, this card can be a very attractive option. The sign-up bonus is $50, which is not especially generous, but considering the card’s long-term value and the fact that it has no annual fee, it is still quite worthwhile.

【Welcome Bonus Requirement】No minimum spending requirement. You will receive 5,000 Priceline Rewards points after your first purchase, worth $83.5.
【Annual Fee】$0

Pros of the Priceline Rewards Credit Card

  • Earn 5x rewards on Priceline NYOP or ExpressDeal purchases (generally, the standard is that the merchant on the transaction shows up as Priceline). All other purchases earn 1x point per dollar.
  • When redeeming points, you get 10% of the redeemed points back.
  • No foreign transaction fee, no annual fee, and no minimum spending requirement.

Cons of the Priceline Rewards Credit Card

  • You need to accumulate at least 2,500 rewards before you can redeem them, which is not very flexible.

How to Use Priceline Rewards Points

The best use is to redeem points for statement credits against eligible Priceline purchases made within the past 120 days. Note that only credit card transactions where the merchant is Priceline are eligible, so buying airfare on Priceline or booking hotels directly on Priceline does not qualify. The redemption rate is 1.5 cent/point. In addition, after redeeming, you get 10% of the points back, which means the effective value becomes 1.5/0.9 = 1.67 cent/point, and 5x points are effectively worth 8.35% back. Note that non-Priceline purchases can only be redeemed at 1 cent/point, which is not a very good value.

Should You Apply?

For people who frequently use Priceline Bid to save money on various purchases, this card offers a pretty strong return. However, ThankYou Premier may be a better choice, since its sign-up bonus is much larger than this card’s. For people who do not use Priceline very often, applying just for the $50 sign-up bonus is probably not worth it. Have you applied for the Barclaycard Priceline Rewards credit card?
