This card’s sign-up bonus is now 90,000, and the first year annual fee is waived. If you’ve already applied for all the personal cards, you can consider the business card.

If you’re deciding which Delta card to choose, you can read our detailed analysis

This sign-up bonus is very good, and we’ve added it to our business credit card sign-up bonus rankings!

Here are the details of this card’s changes:

  • New $150 hotel credit: You need to use this card to spend at delta.com/stays, Delta’s own travel website
  • New $200 Delta credit: This is a large-spend bonus. You need to spend $10,000 on this card within a calendar year. It was originally a $100 bonus
  • The annual fee will increase to $150 (from $99): If your card was applied for before February 1, 2024, your annual fee will be adjusted when the annual fee updates after May 1, 2024. Specifically, if your new annual fee posts before May 1, you will still be charged $99; otherwise it will be $150.
  • 2x points on shipping and advertising: This should be useful for business users with these spending categories, up to $50,000 in spending

AMEX Card Benefits

  • Business card exclusive】 AMEX Open Savings: Use an AMEX business credit card with participating merchants to earn an extra 2x MR or a 5% discount. Merchants include: FedEx Express and FedEx Ground, Hertz®, HP.com, and more. See: Open Savings overview
  • AMEX Offer: Amazon $20 back on $20, Walmart $15 back on $5, utility bills $75 back on $10. Generous AMEX often sends cardholders good offers, letting you earn cash rewards while you spend. See: Recent good AMEX Offers, Archive of past good AMEX Offers, AMEX Offer explained.
  • Business card exclusive】 More and better AMEX Offers: As a business credit card, you may get more good offers, such as Staples, Office Depot, and Sam’s Club 20% off offers (gift cards can be purchased). These exclusive offers are not sent to personal credit cards.
  • Small Business Day: Every AMEX credit card can participate in the annual Small Business Day event, where spending at participating merchants earns extra rewards. See: Small Business Day event overview
  • High credit limits: AMEX is very generous to customers and often gives much higher credit limits than other banks.
  • 3x credit limit increase: After you’ve held the card for 61 days, you can request a credit limit increase online to 3x your original limit.
  • Free ShopRunner membership: Enjoy free 2-day shipping from many online stores. For details, see: Official website

Downsides

  • This card only earns 1x Delta SkyMiles on everyday spending, which is too slow, and it still has a $95 annual fee. If you really want to accumulate Delta SkyMiles, it would be better to use the no-annual-fee AMEX EveryDay Card (1.2x-2.4x) or the fee-based EveryDay Preferred Card (1.5x-4.5x)

Delta SkyMiles Overview:

  • Value: Miles are worth about 1.4 cents each, mainly because the award chart changes often, so redemptions are not as stable as airline miles like AA and UA
  • Redemptions: At least 35,000 miles for a one-way U.S.-China ticket, 5,500 for a one-way domestic U.S. ticket, 7,500 for a one-way within China ticket, and 80,000 for a U.S.-Australia business class ticket. A great tool for short domestic U.S. trips, especially for friends living in the western U.S. and the northeastern U.S.

My take

This card is very similar to the personal version, with only $1,000 more in spending required for the sign-up bonus. If you’ve already applied for the personal version, you can still apply for the business version to get the sign-up bonus. From a long-term holding perspective, the business card has a slight edge because of the extra AMEX business card benefits.

This card is a Delta co-branded credit card. When applying, you need to enter your Delta account number (if you don’t have one, one will be assigned automatically), so it’s still a good idea to first register for a Delta membership on the official website.

  • AMEX official application status check link
  • For the same AMEX credit card, the public welcome bonus is generally available only once (once-per-lifetime restriction)
  • You can call the reconsideration line (800-528-4800, 877-399-3083, 866-314-0237) to speed up credit card approval or request a review of a denied application.
  • AMEX limits you to 4 credit cards and 10 charge cards total.
  • You can apply for a total of two AMEX credit cards every 90 days, excluding charge cards.
  • After you submit your application, a pop-up may appear telling you that you are not eligible for the welcome bonus. In that case, it is usually best not to continue with the application (detailed analysis)
