UnionPay has specifically designed and launched the Travel Pass Card for overseas visitors entering China for short stays. The card supports the full UnionPay payment ecosystem, including POS card payments, UnionPay QR codes, UnionPay QuickPass, and UnionPay mobile QuickPass, and can be reloaded with overseas credit cards for a 5% service fee.

Overview

UnionPay has specifically designed and launched the Travel Pass Card for overseas visitors entering China for short stays. The card supports the full UnionPay payment ecosystem, including POS card payments, UnionPay QR codes, UnionPay QuickPass, and UnionPay mobile QuickPass. It covers many spending scenarios such as transportation, shopping, dining, leisure and entertainment, and attraction tickets, providing significant convenience. It is currently available in both physical and virtual versions. It expires 90 days after the issue date, will be automatically frozen upon expiration, and the remaining balance will be returned to the bank card after the card closure is completed.

Eligibility Restrictions

The Travel Pass Card is only available to users who are visiting China for a short stay, are at least 18 years old, and hold one of the following documents:

  • Foreign passport
  • Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents
  • Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents

Registration Process (Virtual Card)

  • Open the Yunshanfu APP
  • Search for and tap the Travel Pass Card service
  • Use an overseas card to reload the Travel Pass Card: tap the reload button on the Travel Pass Card details page and follow the on-screen instructions. (To protect your funds, the overseas card issuer may send an SMS verification code, so make sure the phone number linked to the overseas card can receive messages.)

The Travel Pass Card can be reloaded with up to 10,000 RMB

Supports four major card networks: Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club International, and JCB

Each reload incurs a 5% service fee

The final transaction amount is determined by the issuer’s real-time exchange rate

How to Pay

A. If the merchant has a UnionPay, WeChat, or Alipay QR code: tap [Scan] and scan the merchant’s QR code.

B. If the merchant has a code-scanning device: tap [Pay/Receive], generate your QR code, and present it to the merchant.

C. For shopping or service apps: select Yunshanfu at checkout.

It can be used at all merchants in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) that display the UnionPay or Yunshanfu logo

It can only be used to pay for transactions in mainland China, with no additional fee for domestic spending

Wealth management, transfers, and receiving payments are not supported
