About the Match
Wyndham has once again relaunched its generous status match program. It’s now very easy to use elite status from another hotel chain to match into Wyndham’s top-tier Diamond status. However, matched status is only valid for 90 days, and you’ll need qualifying stays to extend it.
The benefits and renewal requirements for each tier are shown below.
Eligible Match List
Wyndham has published a match chart, and there are quite a few highlights:
- Marriott Gold and above can all match to Diamond: in other words, if you have an AMEX Platinum series card that includes Marriott Gold status, you can match directly to Diamond.
- Hilton Gold and above can match to Diamond: in other words, if you have an AMEX Platinum series card that includes Hilton Gold status, or you have the Hilton Aspire, you can match directly to Diamond.
- IHG Platinum and above can match to Diamond: in other words, holding the IHG Premier with its $95 annual fee is enough to qualify.
One surprising detail is that Hyatt’s requirement is relatively high: you need top-tier Globalist status to match to Diamond.
So if you hold any of the cards above, it may be worth doing a quick status match before your next stay so you can enjoy elite benefits.

Renewal Requirements
If you want to keep this elite status, you’ll need to complete a certain number of stays during the status period. To retain Diamond, you need to stay 10 nights within 90 days. That 90-day clock starts from the date on the successful match email, so if you have an upcoming stay, matching about 7 days in advance should be enough. If you successfully complete the renewal requirement, you’ll receive the corresponding Wyndham status through the end of the following year. For example, if you complete the 10 nights for Diamond in June 2024, your status will remain valid through December 31, 2025.

Each Wyndham elite tier comes with different perks. Top-tier Diamond can get you benefits such as suite upgrades, a welcome amenity, a 20% points bonus, and more.
