[8/12 Update] This card finally added a $12,500 cap, officially marking the end of unlimited 5x. As a card that’s really only worth keeping for the first six months, it can still be worth applying for if you’re determined to max out the full $12,500. After factoring in the 1% fee on Visa gift cards, it’s effectively like getting a credit card with a $500 signup bonus.

My Take
This card used to be legendary, since the 5x for the first six months originally had no cap. Because of that, some people were willing to take the risk and apply for it, then heavily buy Visa gift cards at drugstores and grocery stores to profit. Now it has finally added a $12,500 cap, officially marking the end of unlimited 5x. As a card that’s really only worth keeping for the first six months, it can still be worth applying for if you’re determined to max out the full $12,500. After factoring in the 1% fee on Visa gift cards, it’s effectively like getting a credit card with a $500 signup bonus.
Application
- Approval difficulty: This card is moderately difficult to get. It’s recommended that you have at least 1 year of credit history, and having a checking account with them helps.
- Application status: Wells Fargo application status check link (requires login or a verification code)
- Things to note: This card is only available to U.S. permanent residents with a green card or U.S. citizens. If you have had any other credit card from this bank within the past 15 months, you will not be eligible for the signup bonus or 0% APR.
