Hotel Overview
This was my second stay at this WA this year, and both experiences were great.
This WA opened in 2017, so it is still very new, with a total of 119 guest rooms and 41 suites.
Its location is excellent; you can walk to the Beverly Hills shopping district in under 15 minutes.
Redemption
This stay used the weekend free night from the AMEX Aspire card. If redeemed with points, it is 95,000 points. For a standard room booked in advance on a weekend, the rate is usually around $600 to $800.
I would say this is one of the best places in North America to use a free night certificate. It is very hard to book, so if you can get it, you are ahead already. Who knows, one day it may even go up to 120,000 points. Pick up the phone and book now. For holidays like Valentine’s Day, New Year’s, and Christmas, you need to book six months in advance.
I booked a twin-bed room, but I noted that a king bed would be preferable, and a few days before check-in the reservation status changed to a king bed.
Check-in
There are not many overnight parking options in Beverly Hills, and parking apps were no help, so I ended up using valet, $60 a day — really expensive. (You can have the valet stock your car with lots of bottled water.)
The hotel’s main entrance has a circular driveway, so I just rolled down the window and snapped a quick photo. Outside the door, it is always Bentleys, Rolls-Royces, and Ferraris.
The lobby is still very nice. It is not huge, but it is beautifully designed. The check-in desk is on the right side of the Golden Door lobby, and the concierge is also inside.
The hallway has great ceiling height, there are real flowers, and the colors and decor really show the property’s upscale feel, haha.
Room
The room type was DELUXE KING ROOM WITH TERRACE AND VIEW, the second-tier base room. The room is 537 square feet, plus a 110 square-foot balcony.
The actual room matched the photos very closely.
The first time I stayed here, the bedside amenity seemed to be a La Prairie sample face wash. The second time it was upgraded to "boxed" chocolate — quite a difference... There were four or five bottles of complimentary water in the room.
In the bedside drawer there are USB ports and outlets, and a plug adapter was also provided.
When you enter, the left side of the hallway is a small closet, and the right side is the bathroom.
The bath amenities are Ferragamo TUSCAN SOUL, and of course I asked the hotel to pack them up for me to take away — a nice amenity to snag while it lasts. Don’t worry about not being able to carry them; they were sent in a WA paper bag...
They even put in a real flower. Nice detail.
Dyson hair dryer
Besides being able to control the curtains and lights manually, everything can be voice-controlled — just say "Alexa...XXXXX...." You can also use an iPad to control everything. The iPad has all the hotel information, and you can also place room service orders from it.
The minibar has liquor and snacks, and there is also the standard high-end-hotel Nespresso setup — but why is there a phone case... Anyway, I couldn’t find a price list.
Breakfast / Elite Benefits
Gold members and above get a $25 credit for two people, which can be used at Jean-Georges on the first floor or for in-room dining.
Both times I had breakfast at Jean-Georges. If you don’t want to go over the credit, order regular water — there is no extra charge. Below are the menus from both visits.
The avocado pizza I ordered the first time was really not good. I don’t recommend it. My partner’s salmon Eggs Benedict was pretty good. The green juice was expensive and hard to drink... We went way over.
The second time, we ordered more carefully, and after tip we only went over by about ten or twenty dollars.
My Sunny Side Up Frittata really suited my taste — a little tangy and spicy, very tasty. My partner’s Egg White Omelet was okay.
Pool/ Rooftop/ SPA/ Fitness/ Hair Salon
These five facilities have a separate elevator at the end of the hallway; you do not take the main guest elevator.
La Prairie SPA — and the spa is expensive, of course. It’s probably best to buy one bottle and help each other out, right? Money saved, business done, and a little romance too. Haha.
Conclusion
The hotel has a great location, and both the interior design and service were excellent. As a U.S. use case for a free night certificate, it is extremely worthwhile. Pick up the phone and book at 800-446-6677!
I do not recommend paying cash, since it is really expensive; use a free night certificate or Hilton points instead.
