Benefits

  • 0% APR on Purchases for 24 months: After charges post, each month you only need to pay the minimum payment, not the full balance, and no interest is charged. Be sure to pay the entire balance in full at month 23 to avoid interest afterward. Practical Use of 0% APR Purchases and Balance Transfers
  • 0% APR on Balance Transfers for 24 months: This is not really practical for most people, because while BT has no interest, BT carries a 5% fee, meaning transferring $100 in balance costs $5. That is like a 2-year, 5% fee, 0% interest loan—so try it only if you really need it.
  • $20 Yearly: Spend on the card for 11 consecutive months in a year to receive a $20 Statement Credit.

My Take

This card is actually pretty interesting: no annual fee, and you can effectively earn $20 back with monthly spending. It gives you at least one reason to keep it for the long term. After the intro period, though, this card does not offer cash back or 0% APR, so it functions mainly as a backup card. If you have a US Bank card you don’t use anymore, you might consider moving it to this one to preserve your credit history while still getting $20 a year. If you later see a better US Bank card, you can just switch over and transfer.
