According to DOC, you can now downgrade the US Bank Altitude Reserve to the Altitude Go. I guess that’s one of the perks of staying within the same Altitude family. If you downgrade right after the annual fee posts, you may be able to get a full refund of the fee. If you downgrade mid-year, the refund will likely be prorated instead.
I just product changed to this card today from the Altitude Reserve– waited until after my annual fee and statement posted (yesterday) and make the request today
– AF to be refunded, and they are two-day shipping the Go card to me
If you downgrade, your existing Altitude points should also be converted to Altitude Go points. After the conversion, they can only be redeemed for cash at 1c/p. So if you really plan to switch, it’s best to use up your Altitude Reserve points at 1.5c/p first. Also, in general, both upgrades and downgrades usually require that you have held the original card for at least one year.
