Uber and Blacklane announced today that they have entered into an acquisition agreement under which Uber will acquire the globally leading chauffeur service provider. The deal marks Uber’s continued expansion in the luxury and business travel segment. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Berlin, Blacklane offers premium chauffeur service in more than 500 cities across over 60 countries through its app and website platform, making it a popular choice among business travelers and high-end customers. Uber said business travel is one of its fastest-growing business segments, with especially strong ongoing demand for its “Uber Reserve” scheduled ride service.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. After the acquisition is completed, Blacklane will help Uber accelerate the rollout of its recently launched “Uber Elite” chauffeur service, further advancing its vision of delivering a top-tier travel experience to more customers worldwide.
The reason we are paying attention to Blacklane is that Citi Strata Elite currently offers Blacklane reimbursement. After the acquisition closes, it remains to be seen whether this benefit will be changed to an Uber reimbursement.
