According to CNBC, Turbo Tax will pay a total of $114,000,000 in compensation to users. The company advertised free tax filing, but during the process it steered users toward paid services, causing some people who should have been able to file for free to pay unnecessarily. TurboTax will also stop using the “Free, Free, Free” marketing language. Details on how compensation will be distributed have not been released yet. We will update this post when more information and relevant links become available.
