Chase Ink is now sending targeted emails to some users: add one Chase Ink employee card and receive 10,000 points, with no spending required. If you received the email, it may be worth adding a card. However, according to the terms, this bonus is taxable. Chase may send you Form 1099-MISC or Form 1042-S. It is still unclear whether this should be reported as personal income or business income.
Terms are as follows:
- To qualify for this bonus offer you must add an employee card to your account during the promotional period of 02-01-2024 03-01-2024.
- Please allow up to 8 weeks after the last day of the promotional period for the bonus to post to your account.
- To receive your bonus, your account must open and not in default, and the employee card must still be on your account, at the time of fulfillment.
- Only one bonus per eligible account. Credit card product changes during the promotional period will forfeit this bonus offer.
- This bonus offer is non-transferable and applies only to cardmembers who receive marketing communications for this offer.
- The value of this offer or program may result in miscellaneous income received from Chase and we may be required to send you, and file with the IRS, a Form 1099-MISC (Miscellaneous Information) or Form 1042-S (Foreign Person’s U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding) for the year in which you participate and are awarded the benefits of the offer/program. You are responsible for any tax liability related to participating in the offer/program. Please consult your own tax advisor if you have any questions about how this could affect your taxes.
