I saw a post on Reddit from someone who failed a company background check after applying for a lot of credit cards.
The person works in a sensitive software development role and is required to do periodic security reviews, one part of which is checking their credit report. Even though they pay on time and keep card balances relatively low, it’s very possible they were flagged as a higher risk just because they applied for too many cards. For example, if they ever had personal financial issues, they could become vulnerable to being compromised.
In any case, if you work in this kind of sensitive industry, don’t get too aggressive with opening credit cards.
