Introduction to Rove Miles

Rove Miles is a brand-new loyalty program launched in 2025, billed as the "first universal airline miles" program. Its core feature is that you can join for free without having any credit card, earn Rove miles through everyday spending and travel bookings, and use them to redeem flights, hotels, or transfer them to a variety of airline and hotel partners.

As an innovative program aimed at younger travelers and people with limited credit history, Rove combines the strengths of shopping portals like Rakuten and credit-card travel booking platforms like Chase Travel. Its biggest appeal is that even if you don’t have a premium travel credit card, you can still accumulate flexible, transferable miles in a way similar to cashback shopping portals. Rove does not yet have a mobile app, but the web platform is fully functional and supports a browser extension for quick activation of rewards.

Online shopping (shopping portal)

Using the Rove Miles shopping portal or browser extension, click through to partner merchants (such as apparel, electronics, department stores, and more) and make a purchase to earn Rove miles back at varying rates.

Hotel bookings

The hotel booking page clearly shows the cash price, miles required, miles you can earn from the stay, and the estimated value per mile. Some "Loyalty Eligible" hotels let you earn both Rove miles and the hotel’s own points at the same time (double-dipping).

  • For example, the hotel below shows how many Rove Miles you would earn if you booked directly with a credit card, and what the mile value would be if you booked with Rove Miles. That’s pretty convenient.

In addition, some hotels may offer very generous miles-back promotions.

Of course, the most important thing when booking hotels is to compare prices carefully! The prices shown by Rove can be significantly higher than the hotel’s official site or other third-party platforms (after all, the miles rebate is larger), so you can calculate the effective final booking price after subtracting the value of the miles rebate, and then compare that with outside prices.

Flight bookings

In general, you can usually earn 1–10 miles per $1 spent, depending on the booking page. For example, an Alaska Airlines economy fare from Denver to Seattle earns only 1 mile per dollar, which is just average value.

Redeeming miles: transfer partners

Rove currently has 15 airline and hotel transfer partners, with most at a 1:1 transfer ratio (Accor is 1.5:1). This is Rove’s most valuable feature, since you can transfer miles into traditional mileage programs and use sweet spots to book high-value awards.

I personally really like this page because everything is grouped together, and any promotions are clearly marked. The most useful partner is probably Japan Airlines, since aside from Rove, only Bilt, Capital One, and Marriott can transfer to it. Cathay, Air France, and Qatar are also useful and make a great complement to UR, MR, and TYP.

Limited-time transfer bonuses

Rove has launched several transfer bonuses before, and they’ve been very generous.

  • Aeroplan has been added as a transfer partner, with the regular rate at 1:1. There is currently a limited-time 25% bonus, bringing the rate to 1:1.25, and the promotion ends on June 6.
  • Transferring Rove Miles to Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles earns a 50% bonus. The final rate is 1:1.5, and the promotion ends on June 30.
  • Transfer to Japan Airlines (JAL Mileage Bank): as of March 31, 2026, enjoy 50% extra miles (i.e. 1:1.5 transfer)
  • Transfer to SAS EuroBonus: as of April 8, 2026, enjoy 20% extra miles

Double-dip on points

Booking "Loyalty Eligible" hotels on the Rove platform lets you earn Rove miles while also stacking the hotel’s own points (such as Marriott, Hyatt, and others). In addition, when you pay for purchases on Rove with any credit card, the transaction is usually coded as "travel," so you can also earn your card’s travel rewards at the same time (for example, the 2x points on Chase Sapphire Preferred).

Flexible "Anywhere" search

Rove’s flight search supports entering "Anywhere," which is handy for flexible travelers looking for the best award redemption or cash fare from their departure airport to various regions. This feature is similar to Seats.aero’s Explore mode.

No annual fee, no credit card hurdle

All U.S. users and some international users can sign up for free, with no Social Security Number required and no credit check. As long as you have a phone number, you can register and start using it, which is very convenient!

Is it worth using?

Rove Miles is best suited for the following two groups of people:
  1. Travelers with shorter credit histories or those who don’t want to apply for travel credit cards: You can spend with cash or a debit card and still earn flexible transferable miles through the shopping portal and hotel bookings.
  2. Advanced users who already have travel credit cards: You can use Rove as a supplemental tool—especially when booking "Loyalty Eligible" hotels—to earn Rove miles, hotel points, and credit-card rewards at the same time for a triple dip.

After using it myself, I found the site very smooth and the overall experience quite good. For people looking to earn extra transferable points, having Rove as an additional option is nice for filling in gaps. And because you can just sign up directly without providing much extra personal information, it’s much easier than applying for a credit card. Rove’s biggest competitor is probably Bilt. Bilt is also expanding its hotel, airline, and transfer-partner promotions, though its main focus is still rent and mortgage payments.

  • Do Rove miles expire?: Under the current policy, miles do not expire as long as your account remains active, meaning at least one earning or redemption activity every 18 months.
  • Does Rove support users outside the U.S.?: Yes, sign-ups are available in some countries and regions, but the shopping portal merchants are primarily aimed at the U.S. market.
  • Can you transfer other points into Rove?: At the moment, Rove is a one-way outbound transfer program and does not support inbound transfers from external points programs.
