800-Flowers items are usually pretty expensive (including flowers, various foods, small gifts, etc.), and shipping is also a rip-off, so most people wouldn’t buy from them (including the author, KUKU, myself). But with this promotion plus ShopRunner, you can actually get paid to buy flowers. I’m writing this up because I had already tested this deal before, and it can be done at zero cost or even at a profit when buying flowers (see my earlier DP at the end of the post).
About this offer
The offer is in PayPal account shopping. Some people will have two offers: one no-minimum $5 off (under Store Cash) and one no-minimum $15 off (shown above). Both need to be manually activated, for a total of $20 off. The $5 off one is expiring in a few days, and the two can stack.
Quick purchase steps
In theory, checkout requires you to enter 800-Flowers from PayPal, but in practice you can also trigger the offer by entering from a cashback site. Ebates currently has 20X on 800-Flowers. If we only buy a $20 item, then after subtracting the PayPal discount (PayPal will save you $15-$20, although the merchant’s system will still currently show that you paid that amount), you’ll end up making a profit on the 400MR. There was a $15 off promotion earlier this year, and I personally confirmed that it could trigger both Ebates + PayPal, and it could be combined with ShopRunner (for $0 shipping)! Here’s what I bought this time:
- Open Ebates, search for 800flowers, and start shopping
- Choose an item priced at $20+, and I picked one for $20.99 (you can sort by price from low to high); this is what I bought
- At checkout, choose PayPal, and note that you can select ShopRunner to save on shipping and delivery time (the ShopRunner sign-in appears on the page where you choose shipping speed; if you’re already signed in, it will show automatically, as below). If true free two-day shipping isn’t possible, the merchant will contact you to explain.
- Note: If you still can’t find the ShopRunner entry, first go to the ShopRunner website in the same browser, sign in to your ShopRunner account, search for 800flowers, and once you see the icon shown above, come back and place the order (remember to re-enter from Ebates; at that point ShopRunner will automatically have you signed in)
- On the order confirmation page, manually delete the order code Ebates. If you don’t remove it, ShopRunner won’t work (in my testing, removing it did not affect the Ebates cashback, but YMMV)
- After checkout with PayPal, it will show that two offers were triggered. The discounts won’t actually be deducted until after the charge posts, and the final credit card statement will be $2.72.
- In the end, the total cost was $2.72 for a $20 potted plant, plus 400MR (assuming everything works out, YMMV). If you have Chase Freedom, you can also earn 5X for the current quarter or 10X for certain holiday promotions, but since the bill amount is already very small, it’s not much to write home about.
- Updated: Ebates has already tracked the order and awarded 400+ MR, and the credit card only charged the amount after the $20 discount, $2.72. Flowers scored successfully.
Note: For orders placed through PayPal, the order information will be sent to the email address linked to your PayPal account, not the merchant account email. If you can’t find the order, remember to check there.
Earlier trigger DP
Appendix: In May 2019, the author used the then-available no-minimum $15 off for PayPal 800-Flowers, combined with Ebates cashback
- Spent $1.23 to buy a $15 kids’ gift and successfully earned 450 MR in cashback
This was my DP from earlier this year. Whether this still works now is YMMV. But cashback or not, this promotion is still worth considering, since with ShopRunner you can almost buy flowers for free. Readers are welcome to share what they bought—there are still a few good $15 items.
enjoy~!
