Although I had already bought the diamond ring, I still owed my fiancée a proper proposal. Since we were visiting Universal Orlando and Disney on this trip, I specifically booked the Waldorf Astoria Disney Suite, hoping to hear her say “yes” under the fireworks at EPCOT.

Because the hotel’s main entrance was under renovation, we had to walk a short detour after getting dropped off before reaching the temporary front desk. As you can see from the photos, this front desk felt somewhat bare-bones and cramped. There was even a trash can placed right in the center, which was a little disappointing. Since I booked through FHR—Fine Hotels and Resorts, I checked in at 12 PM. After sitting in the hotel lobby for less than 10 minutes, the front desk notified me on my phone that the room was ready.

As soon as I opened the door, the first things I saw were the refreshment counter and the living room. To the left of the counter were the coffee machine and minibar. One thing I have to complain about: for a suite that cost nearly $1,000 per night after tax, the minibar was completely empty, with no drinks provided at all.

On the right side of the entrance were two walk-in closets. Farther inside, to the right of the living room, were the bedroom and balcony.

A small four-seat table that can be used for placing items or having coffee. Too bad there were only two of us, otherwise we could have played cards.

Next up are the coffee machine and two bottles of Evian that cost extra and were absurdly overpriced. On top of that, this coffee machine was very difficult to use.

Behind the refreshment counter was a sink area. On it were an ice bucket, glasses (possibly whiskey glasses?), and two complimentary bottles of water (and you can ask for more if that’s not enough).

Next, let’s get to the walk-in closets.

Closet 1

I have to say, this umbrella turned out to be very useful. I used it as a parasol while visiting Disney.

I especially loved this sofa.

Lying on this sofa, you could see the balcony across from it.

Go through the door in front of the closet and turn right, and you’ll reach the bedroom. It felt both comfortable and luxurious.

Even while lying in bed, you could still enjoy the beautiful view outside the balcony.

Keep walking inward from the bedroom and you’ll reach the bathroom. The bathroom layout was a bit small and somewhat dated, but the toiletries were all by Aesop. I personally really liked the scent of the hand soap.

For environmental reasons, the hotel now only provides large bottles of Aesop products, but I heard that if you like them, you can ask housekeeping for some samples.

I really don’t understand why they installed this kind of shower head. It was genuinely very inconvenient.

Finally, here comes the highlight of our stay! From the balcony, you can enjoy beautiful views and Disney fireworks!
