Do you go to Las Vegas often? M Life is the loyalty program of MGM Resorts. They recently partnered with First National Bank of Omaha to launch this credit card product. This card gives you complimentary MLife Pearl status, the lowest elite tier above the base level in MLife. While it’s a relatively low tier, it still comes with quite a few useful benefits, and for a card with no annual fee, you can’t really ask for too much. Spending on this card earns both M Life Rewards points and elite qualifying points, which means heavy spending can also help you move up the MLife elite ladder. The unfortunate part is that MLife Rewards can only be redeemed for Express Comps in the casino, which you can think of as hotel spending credit, and FREEPLAY. They are worth about 1 cent/point, but if you don’t go to Vegas very often, you should probably discount that value a bit.

Benefits of M Life Rewards
- Just by holding the card, you get M Life Pearl elite status, which includes perks such as priority check-in and free parking.
- Spend at M Life hotels earns 3x M Life Rewards points and elite points; gas stations and supermarkets earn 2x; all other purchases earn 1x.
- No annual fee, so there is no cost to keep the card.
- No foreign transaction fee.
Drawbacks of MLife Rewards
- You really have to go to Las Vegas to use the points you earn, so this card is not a good fit for people who do not visit often.
- The Hyatt Platinum status that comes from Chase Hyatt can be matched to M Life Gold, which is one tier higher than the Pearl status from this card, and that option is also effectively no annual fee.
MLife Pearl
Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of M Life Pearl status that comes with this card. Here are just the highlights:
- 10% bonus on points and Express Comps earned from M Life casinos and hotels
- Buffet line pass
- Free parking at hotels and casinos (M Life is about to start charging for parking)
If you spend enough to reach M Life Platinum, which requires 200,000 elite points, or $200,000 in non-bonus spending, you can get a complimentary Royal Caribbean cruise. But considering how much spending that takes, it’s really not all that worthwhile.
Should You Apply?
Honestly, Chase Hyatt already covers basically all of the benefits you can get from this card, and the effective annual fee is essentially zero in both cases. If you still have many other credit cards you want to apply for, I would not recommend this one, because the $100 welcome bonus and benefits are not especially compelling. If you do not have Hyatt elite status, though, this card can still help you enjoy Las Vegas a bit more, and you won’t have to worry about parking fees, so it may be worth considering.
