【Update 2024.10】According to emails sent by MGM and Marriott, points can now be transferred between the two programs at a 0.8 ratio in both directions, which is still a bit puzzling. The minimum transfer is 1000 points, and transfers must be made in increments of 1000.

The matching rules and corresponding benefits are as follows. Noir is by far the best, with a direct match to Marriott Ambassador status plus three upgrade awards.
Marriott has finally released the details of its partnership with MGM. Overall, it is pretty disappointing. Marriott elites do not get especially compelling benefits here. On the other hand, MGM elites can directly receive Marriott elite status, but aside from the very top tier, the others can only match up to Marriott Gold, which is not particularly valuable.

Benefits at MGM for Marriott Elites
If you hold Marriott elite status—Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador—you can receive extra benefits at MGM hotels, but unfortunately you cannot directly match to MGM elite status.
Most importantly, you must book MGM hotels through Marriott to receive these benefits. If you book through a third party, or even directly through MGM, you will not get them.
Coming soon, Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points for stays at spectacular MGM Resorts destinations – including MGM Collection – when you book with Marriott Bonvoy.
Silver status: Benefits are basically negligible.

Gold status: 500 points is only about $4, so this is close to nothing.
- 25% points bonus
- Extra 500 points per MGM stay
Platinum status: Realistically, the $15 credit may be the only meaningful benefit. Room upgrades will depend on how generous each property is, and we will have to wait and see.

- Extra 1000 points per stay or $15 Food Credit per night
- Early check-in and late checkout until 2PM
- Possible room upgrade
Titanium status: Honestly, pretty poor. The benefits are basically the same as Platinum, except the points bonus goes up to 75%—which feels a bit ridiculous.

Ambassador status: There are quite a few meaningful benefits here, but very few people actually hold Ambassador status. For most people and points-and-miles credit card enthusiasts, it is basically out of reach.

- Waived Resort Fee: this is a genuinely valuable perk and can save a lot of money each stay
- Early check-in from 1pm
- One suite upgrade opportunity per year in Las Vegas
- Free parking, retail discounts, and car-booking benefits
Overall, there are not many highlights. Aside from Ambassador, the benefits are really quite average—roughly what you might expect from mid-tier status at other hotel programs.
And compared with the old setup, Hyatt members who matched to MGM Gold could directly get waived resort fees, dining credits, and room upgrades. Marriott really falls well short here.
Benefits in Marriott for MGM Members
If you have held MGM status through a previous match or by other means, you can match to the corresponding Marriott status. Yes, this is a direct status match, not some watered-down version with limited perks.
The mapping is as follows. MGM Gold and Platinum do not get anything especially exciting, since Marriott Gold is fairly easy to obtain anyway—you can get it directly with The Platinum Card from American Express or a Marriott co-branded card. The standout is MGM NOIR, which can directly get Marriott Ambassador.

Marriott and MGM have now jointly announced that they will begin a substantive partnership in 2024, meaning hotel bookings and points earning. Previously the plan was for October, but apparently IT could not get everything ready in time.

It was surprising to see MGM split with Hyatt and then confirm its new partner Marriott just a few days later, which makes it seem like everything had already been negotiated. Judging from the rebranding, MGM became MGM Collection With Marriott, suggesting it would operate as an independent brand within Marriott’s portfolio. Starting in October of this year, you could book MGM hotels through Marriott.
