A coalition of U.S. state attorneys general has reached a settlement with Google in an app store antitrust lawsuit. Google will create a $700 million settlement fund to compensate eligible users. The lawsuit alleged that Google monopolized app distribution and payment services on Android devices, causing consumers to pay excessively high fees for apps and in-app purchases while limiting choice. Google denied any wrongdoing.
Residents of U.S. states and territories who purchased apps or made in-app payments through the Google Play store between August 16, 2016 and September 30, 2023 may be eligible for compensation. Most users will receive payment automatically through PayPal or Venmo, with no need to file a claim. You will receive a payment notification in advance by email or phone number.
