The Hong Kong Airport Authority has partnered with Trip.com to launch a free layover tour service. If your layover at Hong Kong International Airport is longer than 7 hours, you can join a professional guide for an unforgettable trip around Hong Kong.

Eligibility

The requirements for joining the free layover tour are fairly simple. It is open to all travelers who meet the following conditions:

  • You must be transiting through Hong Kong International Airport;
  • Your layover must be longer than 7 hours;
  • You must meet Hong Kong's entry requirements, such as holding a valid visa or travel document.

How to Sign Up

You can book here within 14 days before your trip, or register in person at one of the following counters after arriving in Hong Kong. We recommend booking in advance so you do not get turned away.

  • Terminal 1 Arrivals Level, Transfer Counter E1
  • Terminal 1 Meet-and-Greet Hall A, Counter A03-04

Cultural Experience and City Walk

Time: 12:00–16:00
Location: Wong Tai Sin Temple and Sham Shui Po

Our Take

If you have a long layover, this free tour is a very good option. The itinerary only takes 4 hours, and it also should not affect eligibility for the updated departure tax refund starting October 1. The downside is that the stops are all relatively mainstream tourist hotspots.
