Earlier, American Express (AMEX) had already announced that starting in 2018 it would become the exclusive credit card issuer for the Hilton hotel group, and Citi would convert its existing Hilton credit cards to other products by the end of 2017. As of today, Reddit users have already noticed that both Citi’s and Hilton’s official websites have removed Citi credit cards from their lists. This is a strong sign that Citi will likely stop accepting applications for these cards very soon!

Since both cards will be forcibly converted to other products at the end of the year, there is not much point in keeping the no-annual-fee version, and its welcome bonus is not very generous. In contrast, the two free night certificates offered by the annual-fee Reserve card are quite valuable and make it the better deal.
