Hilton, American Express, and Citigroup have finally reached an agreement: starting in 2018, AMEX will be the exclusive issuer of Hilton co-branded credit cards. (NY Daily News link)
In the major hotel group programs, Hilton's co-branded card lineup has been the most complicated: there are currently four cards, with AMEX and Citi each issuing one annual-fee card and one no-annual-fee card. Effective Jan. 1, 2018, Hilton credit cards will be issued exclusively by AMEX, and Citi confirmed that the existing Citi Hilton and Citi Hilton Reserve cards will be converted into one new credit card, with details of that new card still to be announced. However, under Citi's typical transfer policy, as long as you have held the card for one year, you can generally transfer almost any card, and readers can also choose to transfer on their own by year-end. We recommend the Citi Double Cash, Citi Dividend, and Citi AT&T More; the latter two are currently available only through transfer. For readers without a Citi Hilton credit card, applying now is also worth considering. The current Citi Hilton Reserve sign-up bonus is two weekend hotel nights with no status requirement plus $100, while the no-annual-fee Citi Hilton sign-up bonus is 50,000 Hilton points and $50.
