If you didn't receive it, and you have time, consider calling or asking via online chat to see whether you have one.

The author tried to ask for an offer via Chat, but didn't get one. Customer service can easily misunderstand and think you want an APR offer, so make sure to describe it clearly. They can only check one card for an offer at a time, so remember to ask about both cards. Reader Tony got the $2,500, 3% cashback offer. In short, it is worth a try, YMMV.

Also, according to customer service, you can ask about offers once a month. After you ask, they can't help check again until the CD (billing date; the author's billing date is the 4th).

This account also has reviews done on the 4th of each month to determine if there are any new offer or promotions.

Good question! The 4th is your cycle date, which is the day your billing period ends.


【The following is the December 2019 101 update】

Reddit has quite a few reports of people getting extra 2%-3% cashback offers on the Discover it credit card through online customer service, as follows:

  • Extra 2% cashback for the next 12 months, up to $7,500 in spending
  • Extra 3% cashback for the next 6 months, up to $2,500 in spending
  • Extra 3% cashback for the next 6 months, up to $1,500 in spending, H/T: reader Malii

The author also tried asking through online customer service, but ever since Discover improved (weakened) this department, chat basically takes forever, and it's hard to get a rep to respond.

After several failed attempts, the author called in. The author has two cards, one with 5% quarterly categories and one Discover it Miles card (3x in the first year, $100 sign-up bonus). Unfortunately, aside from a Balance transfer, 0 APR offer, there was no cashback offer, and even after being transferred through multiple departments, customer service confirmed there really wasn't one.

Maybe it is highly targeted. It seems there was a similar promotion last year, and the author wasn't selected then either.
