About This Promotion
Delta has launched a new status match promotion. From now through October 31, if you hold elite status with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, or United Airlines, you may be able to receive equivalent Delta elite status. The matched status will last through March 31, 2021.
If you complete a certain flight requirement by April 31, 2021, you can extend the status through January 31, 2022.
Status Match Tiers
Other than JetBlue and Southwest, the top-tier elites from AA, AS, and UA can all match to Delta’s top-tier Diamond status. That’s quite a solid offer.
How to Get It
If you originally earned elite status with these airlines by flying, you should definitely go ahead and match it. There’s a decent chance other airlines or hotels may continue offering status matches, and then you could use your Delta status for those as well. If not, here are a few ways to get elite status without flying.
- UA Silver: You can match into UA Silver with Marriott Platinum Elite or Ambassador Elite status; the link is here.
Marriott has been very generous this year by giving out plenty of elite night credits, so many people are already Platinum. If you are still a few nights short of Platinum Elite, then with various quarterly promotions, mattress running your way there at low cost is not too difficult. Especially in China, many people likely mattress ran before when off-season rates were as low as 5,000 per night.
- JetBlue: With the Barclays JetBlue Plus credit card, spending $50,000 can earn Mosaic status
- AA: There were previously targeted offers for a direct status upgrade
