Delta SkyMiles are great not only for travel within North America, but also for occasional promotions on international routes. This post is a roundup of major international-route promotions.
【12/13 Update】From now until the night of 12/14, you can redeem 98,000 Delta SkyMiles + taxes and fees for round-trip business class between the U.S. and Europe (limited to Delta One business class on Delta-operated flights). Compared with the regular 140,000 miles round trip pricing without a promo (70,000 Delta SkyMiles each way), as well as UA and AA pricing of 115,000 miles round trip (57,500 miles each way), this is still a much better deal. It is an especially good value for those living on the U.S. West Coast. Mixed-cabin itineraries are allowed, which is also good news for those near smaller airports. See details here: 98,000 Round-Trip Business Class Flash Sale to Europe (12/12-12/14).

Delta runs promotions like this fairly often, so if you don’t currently have Delta miles, you may want to consider applying for one of the following two credit cards for next time:
- Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card currently has a highest-ever welcome offer of 60,000 DL miles after spending $1,000 in the first three months. If you use this card for Delta purchases within the first three months, you can also get a $50 credit. The $95 annual fee is waived for the first year, so you could keep it for a year and then decide when the second-year annual fee posts whether it’s worth keeping. - Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card currently has a highest-ever welcome offer of 70,000 Delta miles after spending $1000 in the first three months.
