Comments
- For Monday’s Carnival cruise deal, if you have enough Discover cashback, redeeming that cashback for Carnival gift cards would be a better choice. After all, the more worthwhile cruises are generally at least 6 days long (see here for our introduction to Discover credit cards):
- The Las Vegas packages are pretty good if you already have a specific need for them.
- OneMoreDay plans to pick up the big Choice Privileges points sale on Friday, mainly because of Choice’s wide footprint and practical value. The roadside hotels you often see, such as Comfort Inn, Sleep Inn, Quality Inn, and Rodeway Inn, are all part of their portfolio. During peak season, using points at national parks can be a solid redemption. If you really cannot use them, you can transfer them at 5: 1 to everyone’s favorite Alaska Airlines miles (equivalent to buying miles at 2 cents each, which is even better than the 40% bonus promotion on buying miles), or to AA miles, UA miles, or Air Canada miles (also equivalent to acquiring miles at 2 cpm; if you need a small number of points to top off your mileage balance, this is a very good way to do it), or 10: 3 to Southwest points (equivalent to 1.32 cents per point). For a detailed introduction to Choice points, see this article: Introduction to Choice Privileges points.
