Short version

This great Xfinity internet deal is back: $50/month for 1G service, with the price locked in for 5 years and no long-term contract.

If you only sign up for internet, that’s already a solid deal. If you’re willing to port in a phone number too, the whole offer gets even better. In short, we recommend doing things in this order:

  1. First, open Xfinity Internet online through the referral link: 1G internet for $50/month, and you can get a $50 referral bonus.
  2. Add Xfinity Mobile when you open the account: the first mobile line is currently free for one year.
  3. After the account is open, port in a phone number: for the first ported-in number, you can try to get a $200 Mastercard gift card.
  4. For each additional ported-in mobile line, you can also get a $50 referral bonus. Combined with the internet $50, the Referral can be worth up to $300 in total.

In other words, if you get Internet + port in 1 mobile line, under the current setup, you can get back a total of $300 = $50 Internet referral bonus + $50 mobile referral bonus + $200 port-in bonus

If you port in up to 5 mobile lines, the mobile referral bonus can be as high as 5*$50. Add the first line’s $200 port-in bonus, and theoretically you can get back a total of $500.

What do you need to prepare?

It’s actually very simple:

  1. A name and email address that can be used to open a new Xfinity account;
  2. An address with Xfinity network coverage;
  3. If you want the mobile bonus, you’ll need a phone number that can be ported into Xfinity Mobile;
  4. If you don’t already have one, you can consider buying a prepaid number or a Tello number and then porting it in.

If you’re already an Xfinity customer, later we’ll also explain how to cancel the old account first and then reopen as a new customer.

How do you get the $200 mobile bonus?

This $200 is not part of the referral bonus that is automatically issued.

The current process is: first open Xfinity Internet and Mobile through the referral link, then contact Xfinity customer service and ask them to match the $200 Mastercard reward for the first ported-in line.

You can tell customer service that a friend received this $200 Port-in Offer and you’d like your account to get the same match.

It’s best to contact customer service about the $200 only after the account is fully opened. Don’t call in to open the account just for this reward, or it could affect the Referral, and phone sign-up is really slow.

The $50 Internet referral and the $50 for each mobile line should normally track automatically.

Things to note

  • For later ported-in numbers, you may want to keep them for just one month. For example, if the second line costs $20 per month, after you receive the corresponding $50 referral bonus, you can decide whether to port it out depending on your needs. That’s basically spending $20 to get a $50 reward.
  • If you don’t have a number to port in, you can buy a prepaid number or a Tello number and then port it into Xfinity Mobile.
  • The $200 port-in bonus and the Referral are two separate offers, so the order matters: first open the account online through the Referral, then deal with the $200.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Open the referral link and enter the email address you want to use for the account.

Step 2: Select NO – you are a new user.

Step 3: Enter the address and other information to verify whether this address has Xfinity network coverage.

Step 4: Confirm and accept this referral offer.

Step 5: The browser will automatically redirect to Xfinity’s website, where you can start choosing a plan.

Step 6: Enter your address again.

Step 7: If this address previously had Xfinity service, but you’re now opening the account as a new customer, choose:

No, I am moving here as a new customer

Step 8: Just select this $50/month 1G plan.

Step 9: Add the free first mobile line.

Step 10: Just keep confirming your way through the process. You may see a $15 shipping charge along the way; don’t worry about that too much for now, since you can try contacting customer service later to have it waived.

After that, create your Xfinity ID and finish opening the account.

Rococo’s reminder

If you’re already an Xfinity customer, you can follow the sequence below.

1. First cancel the existing service

Customer service number: 888-934-6489

Just say: I need to cancel service.

You should reach a live agent quickly, then just cancel. Remember to return the old modem as required.

2. Then open a new account online using the steps above

This is very important: do not open the account by phone.

Just follow the referral process above online, step by step. Phone sign-up is slow, and it may also affect referral tracking.

3. After the account is open, pick up the equipment at an Xfinity store

Once the account is active, you can usually go to a local Xfinity store the next day to pick up the modem.

If Xfinity later mails you a new device, just switch over based on the actual situation.

4. After activation, handle the $200 mobile bonus

Remember, the first mobile line is free for the first year.

If you port in your own phone number, after the account is open you can contact Xfinity customer service and ask whether they can add the $200 Port-in Mastercard Offer.

A simple script is:

My friend received a $200 port-in offer when switching a phone number to Xfinity Mobile. Could you check if you can match this offer for my account?

One more reminder here: it’s best to get the account set up through the Referral first, and then call about the $200. Don’t do it the other way around.

Otherwise, if you call in to open the account just for the $200, it could easily affect the earlier Referral worth up to $300.

Also, here’s another advanced customer service number:

888-738-5679

This is the retention department. It’s usually open about 9 AM – 9 PM on weekdays, and the reps typically have more authority. If you want to ask about discounts, billing, or account offers later, you can also try this number.

About Luokeke

Hi, I’m Luokeke, and I’ve been living in the U.S. for more than ten years. I love researching credit card offers and also enjoy sharing everyday deals. I handle the finances at home and have quite a bit of insight into investing and personal finance. Below are the articles I’ve contributed!

Besides credit cards and points, I especially like digging up deals that are actually useful in daily life, such as Sephora beauty and skincare, grocery shopping, restaurant takeout, home goods, and all kinds of exclusive promotions. After all, deal hunting isn’t about stockpiling a bunch of things you won’t use; it’s about saving money on the things you were already going to buy and occasionally giving yourself a little surprise.

My posts may be a little chatty, and I’ll also share my real ordering experiences, things that were a miss, and how products actually felt in use. I’ll seriously recommend the things that are worth it, and I’ll also steer you away from promotions that aren’t a good deal, hoping to help everyone enjoy spending while saving money wisely together.
