Capital One Spark Travel Elite Business Credit Card: New Premium Card Launches with 250,000-Point Welcome Bonus and $395 Annual Fee

According to an exclusive report from View from the Wing, Capital One has launched a new premium business credit card called the Spark Travel Elite. The welcome bonus is worth up to 250,000 points, and the annual fee is $395. However, the $300 annual travel credit and complimentary 10,000 points each year can by themselves offset the annual fee.

Here are the details:

• Welcome bonus: 50,000 points after spending $10,000 in the first three months + 200,000 points after spending $50,000 in the first six months
• Earning rates: 10x on hotels booked through Capital One Travel, 5x on flights booked through Capital One Travel, and 2x on all other purchases
• Annual bonus: 10,000 points every year
• $300 credit: Receive up to $300 in travel credit for bookings made through Capital One Travel
• Airport lounge access: Priority Pass lounge access and Capital One lounge access
• TSA or Global Entry: Application fee credit once every four years

For now, only the written details have surfaced, and the actual card design has not yet been revealed.

Application

The public application link is not yet available. For now, applications can only be submitted through a relationship manager. VFTW has learned that current Spark business cardholders are able to apply:

Existing Spark cardholders are eligible to apply for Spark Travel Elite; however, at this time, Spark Cash Plus cardholders are unable to apply for Spark Travel Elite.

My Take

Based on the annual travel credit and the 10,000-point annual bonus alone, the card can effectively pay for its own annual fee if you can use those benefits. Add in complimentary PP lounge access and bonus rewards through Capital One Travel, and it looks like a solid card to keep for the long term. Capital One also has a similar premium personal card, the Capital One Venture X, so it seems the issuer is serious about competing in the premium credit card space.
