After a promotion in February this year, Capital One has once again rolled out a limited-time transfer bonus to Japan Airlines (JAL) in April.
This bonus is 30%, which improves the regular 4:3 transfer ratio to about 1000:975, close to a 1:1 exchange level. The offer ends on April 30.
The bonus significantly improves the value of redeeming business class to JAL and its oneworld partner airlines with Capital One miles, especially on JAL routes from the U.S. to Asia. All points earned on eligible Capital One cards (such as Venture X, Venture, Spark, and others) are eligible for this transfer, and cardholders can also convert cash rewards from cards like Savor into points and combine them.
At present, Capital One and Bilt Rewards are the only two reward systems that support transfers to JAL. Although JAL updated its award chart last June with some devaluation, it still has a clear advantage on certain long-haul routes and partner airline redemptions. For example, using JAL miles to redeem business class on oneworld partner transatlantic routes (such as New York–London) requires only 48,000 miles, with surcharges lower than British Airways. Also, for non-oneworld partners like Air France, business class from Atlanta to Paris–Charles de Gaulle requires about 60,000 JAL miles, while Boston/New York to Paris can cost only 42,000 miles.
This transfer-bonus promotion is limited-time, so readers with upcoming redemption plans should take advantage while the window is open.
