The author stayed at the Sheraton Fallsview twice last year, once in October and once on New Year’s Eve. In October I stayed in a suite, and in December I stayed in a high-floor king room. Overall, the hotel service was good, the views were excellent, and the value was quite strong.
Hotel Location
Niagara Falls, Canada is across from Buffalo, New York. Along the streets there are many hotels, casinos, and amusement attractions. Among the hotels along this stretch, Sheraton Fallsview has some of the best views — you can see all three viewpoints at the same time: downtown, the American Falls, and the Canadian Falls — and transportation is relatively convenient. Falls Ave is not as congested as Victoria Ave, where many hotels are concentrated, and if you drive from the U.S. across the Rainbow Bridge, you arrive very close to the hotel parking lot.

Hotel Service
The service is quite good among Sheraton properties in North America. The hotel was renovated once within the past ten years. Although the exterior looks relatively old, the public areas and guest rooms are both fairly nice.

One thing to note is that although the TVs, refrigerators, and air conditioning in standard rooms are new, the bathtubs and ceilings in the rooms have not been renovated and still look like those of an older hotel. If you book during peak season and an upgrade is difficult to secure, this is worth considering. The hotel has two restaurants on the 13th floor — because of the unlucky number, the elevators call it the restaurant floor — one Italian à la carte restaurant and one buffet restaurant. The buffet food is average, but the view is very good. The morning buffet breakfast, whether elite breakfast or the FHR breakfast for two, is served in the buffet restaurant, so it is not a loss if you make other dinner plans.
Because the December booking was for New Year’s Eve, traffic was already backed up on the highway early, and parking spots were also hard to find. On ordinary weekends and similar times, however, it should be much better. Although I used an SNA, I was only assigned a high-floor king room and the certificate was still deducted. Later, after contacting customer service and pushing back, they said they would return the SNA. The hotel customer service representative said that among the room types you can select when using an SNA, only the last few options are large suites. The hotel staff were all very warm. I had only visited twice, but on the second stay almost everyone remembered my face. The lounge had quite a few snacks and drinks outside meal times, and no one seemed to police it.
Aside from the view, the room did not have many especially notable features, but taking a bath at night while watching the light show over the falls was a very nice experience. During holidays and special events, the hotel generally provides some small gifts included in the room rate. For example, this New Year’s stay came with a bottle of sparkling wine. Also, hotel bookings in Ontario’s Niagara region generally include fees for benefits such as Wise tasting and WeGo tourist bus tickets. In theory, these fees are nonrefundable even if you do not use the benefits, so if you are interested in local VQA wines or do not want to drive, do not forget about these perks included in the room rate. The hotel will not proactively mention them, but if you read the terms yourself, they generally tell you how to claim them at the front desk.

Around the Hotel
Aside from the falls themselves, you can drive or walk along Niagara River Pkwy/River Rd to reach attractions such as the Botanical Gardens and Whirlpool. By car, you can also visit Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and the St. Catharines area, both of which are scenic towns with a Canadian colonial-era feel. When traveling to and from the U.S., using the Queenston/Lewiston Bridge or the dedicated NEXUS lane is much faster than using the Rainbow Bridge.

Summary
In the Niagara area, this is a hotel with quite good value, especially among rooms that can see the falls: the views are among the best and the pricing is relatively reasonable. If you are interested in visiting, I recommend also going to NOTL and St. Catharines. There are many all-you-can-eat restaurants nearby operated by Hilton, and they are much more worthwhile than the buffet inside this hotel.
