United Airlines has a great offer for buying miles with up to a 100% bonus for your 2025 travel plans. This promotion runs now through April 13, 2025. Buy 100,000 miles and receive an extra 100,000 miles for $3,762, for an effective cost of 1.88¢ per mile.
The rewards are as follows
- 2,000–4,000 miles: No bonus (3.76¢ each)
- 5,000–19,000 miles: 30% bonus (2.89¢ each)
- 20,000–44,000 miles: 70% bonus (2.21¢ each)
- 45,000–100,000 miles: 100% bonus (1.88¢ each)

We usually do not recommend buying points and miles without a specific plan. But if you happen to need to book a flight and the amount you need to buy is less than the cost of buying a ticket outright, this can be worthwhile.
