About This Deal

By combining three recent promotions, you can effectively buy United miles for as little as 1.44 cents apiece, with a possible best case of 1.36 cents each. Here’s how:

  • Through Wyndham’s current promotion, Wyndham cardholders can buy Wyndham points for as little as 0.68 cents per point, while non-cardholders pay 0.72 cents per point. Expires October 21. (promotion link)
  • When transferring Wyndham points to United MileagePlus, make sure to register for the 25% transfer bonus promotion. Expires October 31. (promotion link)
  • Wyndham is also offering double United miles when you transfer Wyndham points to United, through November 2. (promotion link)

There are a few important things to keep in mind if you do this:

  • The United 25% bonus is capped at 25,000 miles. You would hit that cap by transferring 250,000 Wyndham points.
  • The bonus miles will be posted to your account by January 31, 2026.
  • Wyndham’s point-purchase limit is 100,000 points per year. However, with the purchase bonus, you can receive up to 190,000 points (or 180,000 points) in a single purchase depending on the offer, with a 90% bonus for cardholders and 80% for others.

Example

Assume you are only eligible for the 80% bonus. If you want to buy 90,000 United miles, here is how it would work:

  • Buy 180,000 Wyndham points for $1,300 (purchase link).
  • Make sure you register for United’s 25% promotion (registration link).
  • Before October 31, transfer your Wyndham points to United miles at a rate of 30,000 Wyndham points for 12,000 United miles.
  • Repeat this six times, so 180,000 Wyndham points become 72,000 United miles.
  • By January 31, 2026, you will receive an additional 72,000 × 0.25 = 18,000 bonus miles.
  • In the end, you spend $1,300 to get 90,000 United miles, which works out to 1.44 cents per mile.
