Booking.com recently emailed affected users to confirm a data breach on its platform, saying that some customers’ reservation information was accessed by unauthorized third parties. According to the email, the potentially exposed information may include:

  • Booking details
  • Customer names, email addresses, mailing addresses, and phone numbers
  • Other information users previously shared with the property

Booking.com said it detected suspicious activity and immediately took action. To help protect affected reservations, the platform has updated the PIN codes for the relevant bookings. So far, Booking.com has not disclosed:

  • The exact number of affected customers
  • When the data breach occurred
  • The root cause of the incident
