BofA | Linking Google Voice may trigger a prompt to update your number (VoIP numbers; not mandatory to change)

Some time ago, BofA removed the author's Zelle functionality tied to a Google Voice number. More recently, it has been repeatedly prompting to review the information. I didn’t pay much attention at first, but checked it today. Google Voice is now also being flagged as an invalid number, somewhat similar to what happened with Chase before:

• Chase Banking | You may now see a popup after logging in asking you to add a real U.S. mobile number (YMMV, not required, Voice-type numbers don’t work)

BofA’s prompt is shown below:

At the moment, this does not mean Google Voice is unsupported. It just warns that it is not a real phone number. For now, it still works fine for receiving verification texts and credit card alerts.
