Highlights
- 3x points at supermarkets: capped at $25,000 in annual spending, which is still pretty high. Bilt points are valuable, so this 3x category is solid.
- $100 in hotel credits each year: $50 every six months. You must book through Bilt Travel, and the stay must be at least two nights to qualify.
- Cell phone protection: if you have the card and pay your cell phone bill with it, you can get cell phone reimbursement. Up to $1,000 per year for repairs or theft, with a maximum of two claims and up to $800 per claim; $50 deductible.
- No foreign transaction fee
Bilt Rent/Mortgage Payment Overview
After the redesign, there are two ways to pay rent or mortgage with the Bilt card.
- No-fee mode: paying rent or mortgage does not require a fee. However, you can also redeem Bilt Cash at the same time to earn Bilt points. For every $3 in Bilt Cash redeemed, you get 100 points, up to the amount equal to your rent payment. For example, on a $100 rent payment, the most you can redeem is 100 Bilt points, which corresponds to only $3 in Bilt Cash.
- Max-points mode: paying rent or mortgage requires a 3% fee, but using the Bilt card earns 1x points. Your Bilt Cash balance will automatically cover the fee. For example, if you pay $100 in rent, you can earn 100 points directly, but there is an extra $3 fee. If you have enough Bilt Cash, it will be used to cover that $3. If not, the difference will be charged to your Bilt card.
In either case, you cannot earn additional Bilt points beyond the amount of your rent or mortgage payment. The only difference is how Bilt Cash is used, so the practical difference is not that big.
Bilt Points Overview
Bilt points can be transferred to multiple airline miles and hotel programs, such as Hyatt, UA, Alaska, and more. They’re still very valuable! We value them at 1.6 cents per point. For more details and how to use them, see
Bilt Cash Overview
The Bilt Cash you earn here is different from points. It cannot be redeemed for cash or transferred. The official redemption options currently include:
- Offset rent/mortgage payment fees: for every $30 in fees redeemed, you receive 1,000 Bilt points. For example, if you pay $1,000 in rent and have a $30 fee, you can redeem $30 in Bilt Cash and then receive 1,000 Bilt points. Only Bilt cardholders can redeem this way.
- Increase your Bilt membership tier, which gives you better benefits on rental day
In addition, you can redeem Bilt Cash for Bilt-related services and third-party services, though the redemption rate is unknown:
- Bilt’s luxury hotel collection
- Exclusive Bilt experiences: redeem Bilt Cash to book exclusive experiences like dining reservations, fitness classes, comedy shows, and more.
You can also redeem it toward the following everyday expenses, and the rate may be 1:1 (dollar-for-dollar):
- Hotel bookings: apply Bilt Cash toward hotel bookings made in the Bilt Travel Portal.
- Lyft credits: redeem for Lyft credits and get where you’re going for less.
- Fitness Classes: use Bilt Cash toward bookings in the Bilt App and save on your favorite workouts.
- Dining: use Bilt Cash to pay your tab when you use Mobile Dining check-out at select Bilt partner restaurants.
- Home Delivery: save on everyday essentials ordered through Home Delivery, powered by Gopuff.
- The Bilt Collection: redeem Bilt Cash for select items and limited drops from the Bilt Collection.
However, Bilt Cash expires every year, and only amounts below $100 roll over. That’s still pretty harsh.
- Bilt Cash earned during 2026 will expire at the end of the year, except that up to $100 of Bilt Cash will roll over to the following year.

My Take
The main appeal of this card is still the 3x points at supermarkets, and the cap is high enough. There’s also 2x on travel. If you don’t have other cards, this can work as a one-card setup.
But the hotel credit is pretty stingy: you have to book two nights, and it only reimburses $50 per stay.
Application
- For existing cardholders, applying to switch to this card before January 30 does not trigger a hard pull, but it will still create a new account.
