AMEX Adds Phone Protection to Select Cards Starting April 1, Including Platinum and Delta Cards

AMEX will add Phone Protection to a number of cards starting on April 1, including:

• AMEX Platinum personal and business cards, including Schwab and Morgan Stanley versions
• Platinum Delta SkyMiles personal and business cards
• Delta Reserve personal and business cards
• Centurion personal and business cards

What does this protection cover? I took a look at the terms provided by AMEX, and it appears that the main benefit is reimbursement for cell phone repair costs or losses due to theft. Coverage is up to $800 per claim, with a $50 deductible for each claim. You can make up to 2 claims per 12-month period.

• Reimbursement for the actual cost to repair or replace a Stolen or damaged Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone.
• The maximum liability is $ 800, per claim, per Eligible Card Account. Each claim is subject to a $ 50 deductible.
• Coverage is limited to two (2) claims per Eligible Card Account per 12 month period

You need to file a claim within 90 days of the incident.
